Went back and looked at Hoye again and this pump has what they call a ' banjo' type connection, should not matter, I am not getting fuel here for some reason.

still sounds like air in the system, if you have fuel at one fitting or injector should be able to get fuel to the others. Its not always easy to get the air out. Especially because you are not sure why the previous owner let it sit for so long.......you will get it though.

Did you try tapping on the pump while turning over as Hoyes tip suggested?

I did try tapping on it to no avail, I'm going to put a fuel filter or some type of cut off on it in the morning so i unscrew the connection that goes to the fuel line and see if this clogged in some sort of way or not lined up correctly

I know you said there was no filter on it to begin with. Are you using the factory fuel bowl? Are you using a factory filter in that bowl or one of those inline throw aways? Just so you know you can get the filter for a ym2000 at napa or carquest, if you look up a ym240 which is the american model and they list it in books and computer. Anyway i say this cause the retaining ring can be trouble some and is a spot to suck air especially if your oring is bad or not there.

Just what i was thinking soundguy. There are 2, on almost all japaneese tractors including the american JD's either yanmar built or with older yanmar motors.

There is one on the inlet side and one on the outlet side.

Doublehunter, if there is no fuel filter on there at all, this points to serious idiocy by the previous owner. The injector pump can't tolerate unfiltered particles.

As a minimum put on a throwaway filter while you are waiting to find the authentic filter assembly.

On my YM240 I found a throwaway filter where the real filter should be. I replaced it immediately with a fresh equivalent. (Photo link)

Then I bought a filter assembly off Ebay advertised as perfect replica of the oem filter - but it wasn't. It had an extra fuel return line fitting that was difficult to plug, and it wouldn't take a Yanmar element. Photo 2.

I ran with both filters until I found the authentic Yanmar filter assembly at my local VN 'rebuilt' importer - who had an unfortunate quantity of warranty return tractors out back to salvage parts off of.

I suggest a throwaway filter immediately - before attempting to start the tractor again - then buy an authentic used filter assembly from Hoye or someplace. (with new element and O-ring).

PS - unrelated - These photos illustrate the additional throttle linkage that adapts US Yanmars to the US standard which is 'pull throttle to slow down'.

Here's where I am, got tractor running today, well, half way, running on one cylinder, not getting fuel from injector pump on one line, could not adjust speed of tractor with fuel control, tractor running at fairly high speed, did not let this do this very long, anybodu have any ideas, I think its the injector pump, but i'm just a shade tree tinkerer
