Let us know which mower deck you have. If you search ym146 on this site you will find a thread that I put up when I first bought my 146. With Yannymans help I was able to find out which deck I had. Since that thread I have updated all my casings, bearings and pulleys.....my deck now is a quiet nice mowing machine. Be glad to help you where I can. The switch for the pto on these machines have been an issue from what I can tell. The PO of mine had put a new one on mine but still left the old one hooked up??? Works well so I have no plans to change it at this point. Good luck!

My buddy has a yanmar 4.5 ft tiller he said it has 1000 rpm and it might work on it. Any thoughts

Unless it is for the YM146 or other similar tractors, you might have a really hard time making it fit, or work. Here those who know about these things describe the YM146 as having a 2000 RPM, 15 spline PTO with a female end on the tractor. There may be some adapter you could rig up to make it work, but the only ones I know of are an 18 spline, 25mm adapter that fits Kubota B6000s and some (all?) of the little Mitsubishi/Satoh tractors, and the old 9N adapters that are 6 spline.

Between fitment issues, and running double the speed intended, the tiller might cause more headaches than it resolves. However, if the price is right, you may be able to swap sprockets on the tiller, if it is chain driven, to fix the ratios, and figure something out for the PTO as well. If you do, make sure to take pictures!

4.5' tiller I would guess is not a cat 0 implement and is probably way too heavy for the YM146. That's on top of the RPM issues, 3 link lengths and driveshafts.

4.5' x 12 = 54 x 25.4 = 1372mm.. That's big for that machine. The RS1000 (1000mm) tillers I don't think will work on the YM146's. Haven't measured mine yet (won't have it till Sunday, but it's fairly small.

Not a Cat 0 implement. Way too big for a GT type tractor.
