Few months back I got the part number for a NAPA oil filter from yall.

Anybody got WIX, NAPA, FRAM, ect numbers (after all, any number can be cross-ref) for air filter and fuel filter for the YM1500?

Also, were is the drain plug located for the transmission? The transmission/axle takes hydraulic fluid, right? What kind and how much?

One more thing, I know it doesnt have a water pump and so the mix has to be correct to circulate proper, whats the % on antifreeze/water I should use?

Fuel filter: NAPA 3262

As I recall, there was some discussion on the WIX filters not always fitting when I was looking through previous threads a while ago. Something about different factories making them and some turning out a little longer. I know when I replaced mine the replacement was about 3/8 longer than what I pulled from the tractor. Ended up being tight but workable. I also recalled that one of the dealers on this forum mentioned going to the packaging place an pulling out the small ones. I think the ratio was 1 in 3.

Tranny: 10qt of JD 303 (J14B), Bolt is on the bottom.

Cool.
I was searchin some old post on the yanmar 2000... only because I seen a beat-up one go for $600 at an auction today, but I noted it had the same engine and pretty much everything else as my 1500. The airbox was the same, cept it was mounted up top instead of on the side.

And I found a post saying that the Yanmar filters were washable, so I checked mine and it is, I guess. It sure aint a paper filter, it reminds me of the washable household furnace filters only 'woven' tighter. So I washed it up and oiled it with that sticky air filter oil I use on my foam ATV ait filter... not sure if thats required on these, but I dont see how it could hurt any?

But them boys sure wanted to keep that airbox from leaking... rubber seals around the wingnut, in the lip of the lid, and were the filter sits. How come none of my cars or trucks got seals in all them places?

So I reckon now all I need to do is get an fuel filter and change the transmission stuff. I might end up ordering a filter bowl thing too, mine looks like its ready to crack anytime.

BTW, I've had this thing for 2 years, but I only changed the oil and filter so far. I've got a Fram on it right now. I've since did an experment of cutting open many brands of oil filters however, and found that I dislike the all-paper/cardboard construction of the Frams... so I wont use them anymore. I've only put maybe 10 hours on the YM1500.

Anyway to tell when the transmission oil needs changed? I dont see any silvery bits in it. I dunno what color it should be when new though? I'm gonna change it anyway, just wondering. I've just been going through all my stuff with engines (cars, trucks, lawnmowers, ect) and doing all the maintinence on them, gettin ready for spring.

Uh....I don't think I would oil those air filters.

I fired it up today, let it idle while I washed my truck.
The oiled air filter was no problem. Why not oil them? The only thing it will do is keep less dirt from getting through. I guess theres a small chance that the oil may degrade whatever its made out of, but it is air filter oil, and meant for foam filters... lots of stuff degrades foam, and I dunno of anything that wouldnt degrade foam but would hurt the fibery stuff that thing is made of?

As long as it's air filter oil, go for it. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
