You may recall lesson #1 for this 1510D giftee was to make sure the lower 3pt mount studs are fully seated, screwed in all the way. That repair went well. I got to spend thanksgiving weekend with my kids in the shop where they competed for favorite child status in order to stay in the running for the 1510's giftline.

Lesson #2, the 3 pt hitch is gravity operated and pushing the "down" does not help...unless you're trying to break the control lever which is doubtful. Which brings me to the current problem for which I seek guidance from ether. My 3 pt control lever sheared off right where it enters the chassis. I looked in the manual and it looks fairly easy to remove the seat and then the 3 pt assembly. Are there any bits of wisdom related to this repair that I should know in order to avoid other embarrassingly hard lessons?

Looks like you will have to remove the cover, 47-1. Looks like the fork, #6 is pinned on the lever shaft and slips over the internal control valve shown on another drawing. Guessing it might have broken where machined down. Doesn't look to complicated to remove. Welding that one or getting a replacement may be the hard part. Yanmar Tractor Parts: THREE_POINT_CONTROL

Agreed, it did shear at that machined point. I assume that machined section is designed to carry an oring to keep grime out of the 3 pt control assembly. Any idea why that section is turned down?

I pulled the 47-1 assembly and removed the valve from it. The control arm axle is connected to a linkage block and secured with a drift pin complete with safety wire. How to tap the pin out is the current challenge. There is no room to get a tool in there to tap it out, picture attached. Ideas welcome ...

added another view with valve assembly still present

Looking at the second picture would there be enough sticking out to get hold of it with vice grips to twist and turn it out? Second silly idea is to use a short home made punch and prying tool to push it through working from the left side of picture #1.

Looks like two grooves in the shaft. One for a snap ring, the other for an o-ring.

..Or something similar to ViseGrips with compound leverage to push the pin, a little at a time?

Yanmar sometimes uses a small rollpin inside a larger one. I don't see one in Winston's diagram, but I would still check for this.

I was able to pull the pin using an end cutter with minimal damage to the pin, it "buffed out". 3pt_control_shaft_6.JPG

Challenge now it to find or fab a new one.

Guessing item #4 (liner) is still in the housing?

yes, there appears to be a pressed in bushing that is the full width of the casting. The highlighted artifact is a reflection, not real.

Don't know that it will help but the part number for that lever is 194446-44700-X on the YM187 parts list. I believe it to be the same on your YM1510. Don't go to the bank with that. :D
