YM2000 Bent and Cracked Front Axle

Going to put the newer axle on. It has the bottom plate that runs the full length of the axle and seems to be built a little stronger. The old one bent right where the bottom plate stopped. About 3-4" from the spindle. My plan is to straighten,reweld and add plates to reinforce it. It will be my spare or I may sell it to get my money back.

... Have you looked at the center pivot ? I would be surprised if nothing has bent at that point as well.

I'm surprised modern tractors don't have radius rods like old Fords to keep the front end aligned.

Just looking at this design, it seems like a wheel would get shoved to the rear the first time that tire hit an obstacle. I think if I had to buy a salvage axle due to damage, I would buy the front crossmember with pivot assembly along with it.

i agree with the others.. completely repairable and weldable.. thouhg do look at kingpin too.

IMHO.. the radius rod design is for a pretty weak axle kinpin design anyway, and needs the support. the yanmar front axle remonds me of a much smaller version of the 3 cyl 4000 front axle bolster... not a bad design, if beefy enough..

The crossmember with pivot assembly came with the axle. Basically all I will have to due is unbolt everything and reassemble with the "new" parts.

for that price.. not a bad deal.

then fix the old one as a spare.. even gusset it up as a hd model.. IE.. perhaps make it a solid beam axle.. thicker mount plate.. etc..
