ym2000 parts help

G'day
Just joined the site and have found it very informative. I have read nearly every page on the yanmar post.
I am in Australia and am after any information on part numbers that are relevant to products I can get in Australia (ie RYCO filters)
I am after info on Air filter, Fuel Bowl, Radiator Hoses & oil pressure switch.
I have seen the posts that refer to parts available from US manufacturers. ie. WIX.
I have found cross reference info for the fuel and oil filters but am having trouble finding an air filter or radiator hose cross reference.
If someone in Australia knows of this or has info on the best place to get parts from would be greatly appreciated.
I have emailed HOYES and they have been very helpful if I wish to get some sent, but I would like to try local first.(cost)

The main problem you're going to have here, is most of the posters on TBN are in the US. Our suppliers may not be the same as yours. There are a few dealers here that will be able to send you fiters and such, but shipping might be a killer.
The air filter may be a big hang up, they are an odd size.
I wish I could help more, but we're quite a ways from each other. The YM2000 is a great reliable tractor.
Maybe daedong AKA Vin knows of some parts available down under. I think he is in SA.

The Wix air filter for the YM2000 is part # 52297, or NAPA 2297, if that's any help.

As far as the WIX numbers go. I have tried already to cross reference them with the Aussie manufacturer but none of there would cross over.
Keep the posts going as you may spark a brainwave by me with something you post.

I made a note from a long-ago post that listed the following cross-references:

Purolator A23341
Fram CA79
Wix 42297 (maybe a misprint?)
AC A904C
NAPA 2297
Carquest 87297

I can't speak for the accuracy of the numbers or the fit of the parts. Other posters have indicated that some substitutes are not exact replacements. Genuine Yanmar parts are reportedly washable and will outlast cheaper substitutes.

According to WIX, 42297 is the correct #, (apparently up to about a year ago, they used a 5 prefix). I use the NAPA 2297 and it is a good fit. All of the non-Yanmar #'s are "will fit" items, and you are correct, the oem air filter is washable, expensive, (approx. $40), and will probably last the life of the tractor. (I'm saving mine).

I would love to have one of those washable filters for my 1700. It gets really dusty brush cutting and I have to replace my air filter at leaset 3 times a year. It would be economical for me to purchase one. Does anyone have a part number for a washable filter for the 1700?

That doesn't appear to be the one that Hoye carries; however I'm sure Len Sheaffer or Danny Parker sell them.

I think you can adapt one of the filters from your area to work. I have used a smaller filter and made seals cut from a rubber gym floor mat. It worked very well. Am old seabee from WWII set this trick to me. (he did not use a gym floor mat but that was what I could find).

Failing that try contacting a very large parts house and give then the dementions of the filter and they may be able to fine one of the same size.

I don't think all Yanmar air filters are washable. My 2000B came with one. I bought a lot of four Yanmar branded air filters and they are all paper elements.
