I just wanted to throw an idea out there to see what you folks thought.

the original problem started with a mechanical problem with the pump that caused it to fail.

My uncle, who is not that mechanically savy starts just twisting bolts and swaping lines "hoping for the best".

Could the relief valve on the loader valve be turned up so high to cause a dead head issue once I fixed the original issue? could it be so far oout of adjustment that the seals in the pump continue to fail?

If I can avoid taking my tractor to the mechanic i would sure like that

Sounds like a PB port is running the 3pt.. and is working...

I had a chance to get into the tracing of the lines before I left for work, and this is what I found.

from the high side of the pump, the line goes into a QD and then into the inlet side of the loader valve body. next to the inlet is a line that travels into the 3pt.

on the other side of the body is the "outlet" and that line travels into another QD and then into the return for the hydraulics into the tranny.

My conclusion is this. because the 3pt is working, and I have a dead loader I am thinking that the valve body has a malfunction, or failure of some kind. movement feels fine, but I just cant tell.

I talked to a local hydraulic expert reference rebuilding the valve body, and the man is standing strong with feelings that it is most likely fine, and my problems lie somewhere else in the system. He is leaning towards a blockage of some sort like everyone else.

I have decided to take the whole thing to him in the morning. I have to say that this tractor has beat me. at least I can say I put up a fight.

Does that valve actually have a relief built in to it? Check your paperwork for it.. did he adjust the relief ( if it has one? ). Did he get the working ports all plumbed back to the correct places?

Paperwork? I wish. I had more pressing issues I had to take care of (new kitchen set for my 4 year old daughters playhouse) I am going to jump into the tractor right now. If I cant make any headway within a few minutes its off to the Hyd guy.

Ill keep you posted. whats a PB?

My guess? Problem with the 3 point hitch valve, or with the line after it. But, first and foremost, get a hydraulic schematic. Or, take it somewhere to get fixed. First, he will get a hydraulic schematic. Second, he will have to find out what your uncle did, fix that, then fix everything that broke after.

Did you find all of the old shear pin? You might try hooking up without the quick couples one of them might be bad. If so, pressure one way well close the check valve, flip around and press would open it. Recheck all female couplers. and look at what opens the check valve on the male end. This is just off the wall, but easy to check.

PB refers to power beyond.. IE.. feeding another valve downline in series..
