YM2002 Bush Hog Loader install

I picked up a Bush Hog 1846QT loader for my YM2002. When any one says "it bolts right on" - they lie.

Some of the bolts that go into the bell housing were about 10mm too long, or more specifically, my holes weren't tapped deep enough.

Just picked up some smaller bolts for a couple places. Got the left and right brackets on, and the plate underneath, but they aren't attached to each other yet. I will take come pictures tomorrow and post them.

Going to get the loader on, and then decide where to cut my high pressure line and put compression fittings on. A lot more work than I originally anticipated, but will be worth it.

I just have to figure out where to buy compression fittings for hydraulics that will fit that line. (btw - anyone know about what pressure my pump puts out? around 1800psi?)

Im not sure pressure wise. I bet you cant wait to use that loader.

most hyd shops should have compresion fittings for you...I think mine were 10mm. you could also braise the fittings on. keep your brackets loose untill you mount the loader on.

I have a Bush Hog 1846QT on my YM1802 and I love it. It is so powerful that it can be very unsafe so it must be used cautiously. It can flip your tractor over in a second if you try to lift something too heavy so a ROPS is definitely recommended.

If I try to lift too heavy an object and have it centered properly it will lift my rear wheels off the ground even when I have my rotary cutter on back. If it is not centered, it will lift up one side and flip it quick if you don't let off.

After Katrina I carried many heavy stumps away that a much larger tractor couldn't lift and I know that I vastly exceeded the load ratings on my tires and front end.

I've had it for years and it has been completely trouble-free except for having a couple of frozen grease fittings now and then and a Markham toothbar made it even better.

Be careful with it, don't let any newbies use it, and you will enjoy your new toy for many years.

Thanks all! Got it all mounted minus Hydraulics today. Measured and my pressure line is 12mm. Going to pick up some compression fittings and see where the best place to squeeze them in will be.

BTW - I have some ports on my sump area I was curios about - two are labeled with an "o". All have bolts in them now, but was wondering if any are for adding hydraulics without cutting anything???

Your bucket doesn't have the 2 hooks on the top that mine has. I thought they were original but I guess someone put them on.

Are those regular 12" car tires on the front? I was thinking about putting them on mine so I don't rut the yard as much.

Out tractors look about the same. Wonder what the diff is between the ym2002 and the ym1802 (besides 2HP). Are you a 3 cyl or 2cyl?

They are both 3 cylinder and there is very little difference in the 2 models.

It was mentioned that the loader can outlift the weight of the tractor. I'm sure this is true, but it can be adjusted so it won't. If the valve is the same as the one that Koyker uses, this can be adjusted. If this is a 4 way valve, slide back the rubber boot. You will notice a screw and a jam nut under the handle. This is a pressure relief valve. After you are hooked up to the hyd, you can back this screw out to limit the load that can be lifted. Remember that the loader lifts in an arc. There is more force on the tractor the higher you lift the bucket. Tipping the tractor over due to excessive load can be avoided by making the right adjustment here, well worth doing.

TallyHo8 - Any chance you could post pics tonight of where your high pressure line is tapped?

I purchasing fittings tomorrow and going to cut the line - couple places might work, but since ours are about the same, thought they would help!
