What models do you have? Some Hinomoto rims will fit Yanmar.

I checked today and the only model I had with 9.5s was a D2000 Mitsubishi. I measured the height and they were 2.5 inches taller than the 8.3s. To stand back and look at the YM2002D it appears to need larger tires on the rear. If I get time I will take a photo and post it tomorrow.

The YM2002D came from Yanmar with 8.3-24's on the back and 5-14's on the front. (The YM1802D had 8.3-22/5-14. The tractors are very similar, but the ratios are different.)

Keep in mind that 5.00x14's are taller than 5-14 by an inch or so, so that might make it work with 9.5-24's. It would take some measuring.

Dave,
This tractor has 6x14 and 8.3x24. Do you think the 6x14 instead of the 5x14 should use the 9.5x24s /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Rick,

You have an interesting non-factory combination. I would suggest some measuring, but it is sure possible that the 9.5 x 24 will match up with the 6x14.

Rick,
Your tractor could have the wrong tires, or if it's one of those 'factory reconditioned' units assembled from different tractors it might even have a front axle ratio different than you expect, with tires proper for that non-stock ratio.

A first rough test is to see if it can be shifted in/out of 4x4 after rolling a few feet on pavement. If it is badly bound up in a few feet then assume something is wrong. I think spec is with the front tires no more than 5% faster than the back tires.

The only way to resolve what you have is to precisely count the tire revolutions to go say 100 ft, in 2x4 on pavement and then in 4x4 on soft ground.

Then to research alternate tires, you can look up rolling circumference for each size in the Goodyear Ag tire book:
http://www.goodyearag.com/tires/handbook.html

Hope this helps!

Dave,
Checking specs on several Yanmar models shows that 9.5s are matched with 6x14s. Sitting on level ground the tractor looks to be a couple of inches short in the rear. I think I'll check the circumferences. What should the ratio be?

California,
No it's not a reconditioned tractor (786hrs original) although the tires could have been switched. I haven't tried it on the hard surface but it seems to work fine on gravel and dirt. If the 9.5s will work I will definitley switch and add ballast.
I appreciate all the ideas.
Rick
