ym2210 d that has been sitting 3 yrs

Buying a ym2210d tomorrow for dirt cheap, been sitting for 3 yrs outside. I checked it out today, owner drained radiator fluid out when parked, health reasons why it was parked. Oil in it is not contaninated with water surprisingly , hydraulic fluid looks clean, clutch is kinda hard to push, it will roll, and I am able to put it in a gear, buying it regardless for parts as I already have a 2210. But it may run,

could pistons be seized if it rolls?

Aside from replacing all fluids, any advice before I try to crank it?

Yes. If you have the clutch in. you are by passing the pistons / rotating engine assy.

Thanks kenmac, I should have been more clear, but I did not have the clutch pressed when we rolled it. Sorry for not being clear.

3 years is not really a long time to have one sit up, If were no problem with it when parked I wouldn't think why should be any problem starting it, Diesel oil has the tendency to hold to the cylinder walls and rings , so whatever was in the cylinder at the time of it being parked is probably still there, doesn't evaporate like gas does, You'll most likely want to drain the old fuel and put in some fresh if you plan on actually running it, You could pull the decompression on it while letting it spin over a few times so it will have an easier time getting the oil back into the lower part of the bore,

Not sure about pushing a powershift but if you just watch the fan or something you can see if the engine is turning.

been wondering where u were smoody. but on the powershift not so sure about pushing it with the clutch let out. Since there is a hydro controlled clutch pack and pump that engages to hold the clutch and trans engaged to the flywheel if its off there is no pressure to hold it togeather? Not knowing how it works id have second thoughts too? Is the engine engaged when off in gear? Its not mechanically linked like a gears trans is so im not sure?

I check in on here weekly,just don't post much anymore, no reason. To clarify I did not roll it across the yard but the wheels are not locked up, its worth $500 bucks I'm sure..

If the seller says it doesn't have significant problems and he quit using it due to health - then there's a good chance all it needs is a hot battery and maybe fresh fuel to resume where it left off.

yea i think its worth that. if u decide to pass let me know ill buy it. i was just at the farm in your area last weekend. burned a whole tank of fuel in the yanmar, mowing, finish and rough as well as disking.

I seem to remember us talking about pull starting a powershift trans and I think you can the pump is in the rear end of the trans and I may be off in left field but I think thats what we decided??? just thinking out loud...

Anyway a socket on the crank you can turn it and if she turns over she will fire up with fresh fuel and a battery heck put a battery in and hit the key I bet she fires as is. Nice find btw I am jealous. :thumbsup:
