2 quickies: 1st I just bought a5 ft bush hog. This is my first real use of pto on this baby. When I push the clutch in and engage the pto, she does fine. However, when i select my gear1-4, she starts to creep forward, even with clutch pushed to the floor. What gives? 2nd. Have any of you installed remote hydraulics? I dont want a front loader, just a toplink and maybe run a small splitter. any advice? Thanks ya'll

It sounds like you may need to adjust the throw in your clutch pedal linkage.

As for hydraulic remotes, it isn't that difficult. You can tap into the tractors hydraulic supply line. Cut the hydraulic supply line. Connect a line from the pump side of the line to a diverter valve. From the diverter valves OUT port, run another line that ties into the hydraulic line on the way back to the rear of the tractor.

It sounds like you need to install an overrunning clutch on your PTO shaft. They cost about $35. Or if you already have a clutch you might need to add some grease to it. Since the PTO is "connected" to the transmission the spinning bush hog will turn the transmission and move the tractor forward. The tractors clutch disconnects the engine from the transmission but not the PTO from the transmission. An overrunning clutch only engages in one direction. So it lets the tractor turn the bush hog but not the other way around.

I agree with dgburgess. Keep in mind that when you add the overrunning clutch, you will have to shorten the pto driveshaft accordingly.

Or does he mean that with the clutch in, and shifted into gear.. the tractor will start to move ( dragging clutch.. etc ).

Preciate the advice. I'll be busy with those lines, I'm sure.

"Or does he mean that with the clutch in, and shifted into gear"

Sounds like he has the rotary cutter turning when he puts it in gear, if it would even allow him to get in gear. If no ORC, that should push him forward.
