Yanmar 2700(deceased)
My tractor runs just great for about 20 minutes, pulling a five foot bush hog. Then it stalls under a load. When I try to restart it, it won't turn over. After two minutes it will crank and start again but it still won't take a load, it will quit again.
It doesn't seem to be overheating, the gauge reads 80 and their is not noticeable sign of heat.
Any one have any good advice?

"When I try to restart it, it won't turn over."

Does that mean it literally won't turn over as with bad battery or starter, or it just won't start? Check air filter, fuel filter/supply, and muffler.

Maybe the fuel cap is not venting and your fuel system is pulling a vacumm.

The engine won't crank at all. Turn the key and it just clicks. After two minutes it turns ove ok and starts.

The fuel cap is very loose, doesn't fit tightly at all. What should it be like? Any test for that?

Either your engine is seizing up or you have multiple problems, battery/starter/wiring, and stalling, (see previous post). I suspect you are going to need some onsite troubleshooting assistance.

what does the oil look like and is it up to the full mark on the dipstick. Has the oil filter been changed.

It almost sounds like it's overheating and seizing up, then when it cools a bit, it'll turn over again. Either that or it's out of oil or other lubrication problems.............

I was having this problem and then changed the oil and still have the problem. The oil had been full and is again full with 6 quarts. This time, I did not replace the oil filter although I did a few hours ago.
The gauge never did read hot while running. When I did the oil, I also added water, a good amount, and cleaned a bunch of grass off the screen in front of the radiator.
Now, when it stalls, the temp gauge is still about 80 although it then rises to the top after it shuts down, I assume this is heat creap. The engine is not hot, I can put my hand on the radiator.

I agree with Jagmandave Sounds like poor coolant circulation. Is your gauge correct ?Does it stop without anything connected rotary cutter' box blade,etc;
