Well, I was using my box blade (and top n tilt...GREAT addition!) when I lost power and stalled...started again, and quickly died. Moving throttle forward (more fuel) didn't seem to help. Started again ok, then quickly lost power and died. I nursed it off the road I was working on, and let it set for 45 min and ran OK, but didn’t run it long. I’m ASSUMING it’s the fuel filter (air filter was fine), as that’s what I’d suspect on a gas engine…BUT this is of course a diesel-still make sense it’s the fuel filter?

Thank you in advance!
Adam
P.S. Majority of fuel is new this week, but tractor hasn't run much in the past few months....

I had this problem with my 3110 d I think same as or close to the 336.My rubber fuel line from filter to injector pump was comming apart on the inside & restricting fuel flow

Hmmm. COULD be over-heating as I was working it pretty hard, but the one time I recall doing that the "idiot light" on the dash came on and I stopped (and I really hadn't lost power yet). A quick cleaning of the filter screen in front of the rad. cleared that right up:). I hope to get back to it tonight (or at worst tomorrow night) and change the filter anyway, as I have one kicking around....

Out of curiousity (as I am not as familiar with diesels as I'd like to be) why does overheating cause stalling and conditions simulation fuel (or oxygen) starvation?

Thank you...as always this forum has been very helpful!

I'd gues out of fuel, or a clogged fuel filter, or water int he sediment bowl/fuel filter/lines/tank as my first guess.

I'd look at overheating as a 2nd guess.

Draint he line to the injetor pump into a glass jar and see what you get for flow and if any water comes out. Also check the filter,a nd peer intot he tank to look for suspended gunk.

I had my big NH 7610s die while mowing due to a clogged fuel filter.. acted EXACTLY like yours did.

I think your right. If The air is unrestricted as well as the exhaust - must be fuel flow.

Is any fuel leaking around the bowl? If so get a new bowl, filter, oring. Bleed the fuel lines and ur machine will purr!

Well, we'll find out tonight! Last night all I had time to do (between moving implements around in a truck and getting rained on, and helping a guy fix his 8N) was change the fuel filter and bleed the line. MAN, that thing was DIRTY. The bowl is now nice and clean, with a new filter installed.... I checked the screen in front of the rad. and it was clean...so I'm holding out on my theory that it was the fuel filter and not overheating (unless it happens again tonight...it sure hasn't gotten much cooler out around here, even with the torrential downpours...).

Thanks to all those who replied-confirmation of my thoughts (and a few other ideas) were immensely helpful /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

These fuel filters should not be that much of a problem, that's why the sediment bowls are clear. Anything in there that ain't diesel, and it needs to be changed.

When the engine is cool, check the radiator fins to see if they are plugged up from dust. If so back flush gently to remove the blockage. I hope this might help make the unit run cooler.
