amitysanimal,
Let me know how you like the TSC box blade. Do you know the weight? I'm thinking about that one when my BX gets in.

I called TSC and of course they don't have one in stock, they only have the 6' BB and that too big. My B7100 is about 46" wide so a 4' will work but I was thinking of going to a 5' because its only 20 bucks more. I hope the TSC BB are OK, I have called all around and the tractor dealers want close to $800.00 for a Landpride 5' BB. I KNOW what the wife will say about that purchase, no way in heck. TSC said they might get a 5' blade in tomorrow, thats $419.99.

Do you think a 5' blade is too much or should I go with the 4" blade. My tractor is cat 1 with cat 0 dimensions. The cat 0 4' blade would fit better and is $398.63. What should a fella do???????

amitysanimal:

For your stated uses I think a 5' box blade would be a little large. If the 4' BB fits your 3 point hitch better then that is also another important consideration. TSC box blades are considered somewhat light by some of the readership; but you can always add weight. Jay

With a 16 hp Cat 0 tractor, I think there will be times when even a 4 foot box will stop you cold. I would not go for 5'

Sounds good, I'll have them get me in a 4" BB. They said it could take a couple weeks, but it sounds like thats the way to go.

I use a landscape rake w/ wheels to groom the gravel and a rear blade to move snow on our ~ 800' drive. 7" width for each behind a Kubota L4310.

I ran into the same problem at TSC with them not having the one I needed in stock. I went home and ordered a United Box Blade online that came with free shipping.

Pretty nice box blade that has the curved cutting edge and forged ripper shanks. Best part is that if I wear it out over the years, I can rebuild it by replacing the cutting edge and the rippers and it is like new again!

Good idea on going with the 4 ft boxblade. I bought a used 6 ft boxblade for my CK35 but in hindsight should have gotten a 5 ft; this would be just a little wider than my tire tracks. My boxblade has front and back replaceable curved cutting blades. As other posts have mentioned go with a heavy one as it will work better for you. Have a 7 ft backblade as well but do not use it often, mostly use the boxblade.

The rakes are best if you are trying to clean up a gravel driveway without removeing the gravel itself. I use mine to sweep away logging debree like pine bark and small sticks that have fallen off the log trucks. it can collect the bark and still stay on the grownd where a box blade can get a small stick under it and it will no longer be on the grown gradding.
