Mine also has an extended cab, 8' bed and huge engine but very reliable. I finally replaced the tires that were on it when I bought it. They were 15 years old! Gas is so high in CA, cost me $110 to fill it up last time. I added shocks in the back to improve towing.
Yep dual tanks and the kid was spending a lot on gas... 16mpg ???

He now has a Toyota pickup... but he misses the F150 at times and it had seatbelts for 6

I wouldnt worry Oosik, its all going to come crashing down soon.
Once interest rates go up later this year and next year, buying will slow way down and the covid excuses end, itll be a buyers market again.

Boys if you want a chuckle go price out that fancy new electric F150 Lightning. The top end model can break $95,000 and for that you get something that will go 250 miles, if it's above freezing, and then will need to sit on a charger for 8-10 hours before you do it all over again!
Somehow that's gonna save the earth.

The real reason for the lunacy is that NONE of these inflated prices are actual purchases by the people. ....They are actually paying payments to a lending party financing the vehicle at low interest rates born by the working, conservative base of the economy. .....Let interest rates return to REAL levels and the price gouging insanity will stop dead in its tracks!

My Silverado crew cab is 10 years old, and it's been totally reliable. I'm about to upgrade its head unit, and that takes some significant shenanigans under the dash. Still, it's a user-maintained truck.

While I'm a little concerned with the price of new trucks, I'm more concerned with their long term maintainability. If I bought a new truck, I could change the oil and maybe even replace the battery myself. But everything else is so electronically integrated that any change or glitch in it would mean a trip to the dealer, and -- after the warranty is gone -- a simply ridiculous bill.

I think I need a truck like the old Power Wagons, where I can hose off the mud, then open the door and hose off the floor. Not much in the way of creature comforts, but zero trips to the dealer. It'd be even better if it were Diesel powered.

Mom's friend on the Bay Bridge stopped but the truck behind didn't stop fast enough.

Went out car shopping for Lexus to replace but no inventory...

Ended up paying straight 10% over sticker to drive new car home last night... she wrote a check and ready to do battle with insurance companies...

The 10% is market adjustment... told her she could save some if willing to wait 3 weeks... she is Trauma RN and just wanted this over...

Maybe part of the plan to get everyone into an EV?
If by “plan” you mean the invisible hand of the free market, then sure.

I have a 1987 Ford F-150 with 285,000 miles and a 2006 Saturn Bue with 350,000 miles on it and wouldn’t trade either.

How do you handle inspection and smog checks?

My 85 Chevrolet Service Van took a lot of time for me to outfit but I sweat out each emission test and several times through the years it has not passed by the smallest of margins.

I use it for business so I swap out the CAT and no problem on retest...

At my smog station they have a '96 cutoff for a fairly easy smog. Apparently, before '96 is much more difficult. That's the problem with old vehicles. Even my '07 Honda is just plug and play - 5 minutes. I used to have a '72 Datsun with a better carb and sweat every smog. You have to have a place that will ignore non-standard equipment.

I've got two year model 1976 cars I don't even try to pass... BMW 2002 and Triumph Spitfire.

Both run and drive well... the 2002 BMW with stick us a lot of fun to drive but both are just over limit.

On the Triumph to get it to pass it runs horrible...

A lot of us old car fans got caught up when state stopped the rolling exemption at year model 1975.
