I agree with the others, I'd just live with it. Looking at the photos, I don't think it was used, just beat up a little bit in shipping. I would be a little upset with the condition, it wouldn't make me happy.

well- th rust in augers area is something not to be worried about. Its gonna get worse. after the first few snowfalls it will clean right up and then come spring start rusting again. The other areas, wel, just like other posters said, its been banged around in shipping and handling, but I am surprised the dealer didn't take time to prep it and paint over it. Its the little things that dealers can do to be top notch dealer and apparantly this one didnt. The top link- just like others said, it been hooked up so it can be moved. Nothing you can do about it since paint is a few mm thick and its not a rhino covering against everything. When you use it a few times it will rust/scruff up.

I know its a little disconcerting NOT to be the first one to put rust on it from normal use. :(

The condition of the implement is fine but myself I would expect FACTORY paint from the dealer. Most often the color codes are kept secret by the manufactures and the cans can cost as much 15.00 to 25.00 a piece and they don't even kiss you afterward. A little touch up and you will be good to go until the first time you use it but keeping up with it doesn't hurt. Over time most people don't bother and just periodically spray WD-40 on their equipment. Depends on how much time you have. IMO it won't affect the longevity of the piece only the appearance.

I agree with the others here. In that it is a piece of equipment that we expect to become somewhat dinged up with normal usage, the manufacturer and distributor do not take the extra time (and costs) to protect it from minor blemishes. Most people would leave this implement out in the elements while not in use. If this were a new Corvette or Beamer, I would expect it to be flawless. I would also keep it garaged as well as would expect to pay a higher price for a premium product. It is likely they could deliver this product with no blemishes at all, but they would have to charge more for the delicate handling it would require. Most people would likely prefer to take it the way it is at the current price than to have no blemishes and pay several hundred more up front, when it will soon get dings anyway. Just my .02 worth.

Looks acceptable / normal to me.
Most dealers store their equipment outside and rust will soon show on any scratch or paint chip.

I just got some attachments that were new and looked like that. All the dealers leave the stuff outside! Also no more snow, we just had the onion snow last nite! Ready to till the garden!

Thanks for all the replies. I'll wait for warmer weather, use some POR15 on it and then put it in the garage until next season. Maybe we'll get another April 1st storm! With all the rain last night the only snow left is around the edges of the fields.

I wish I had a snow blower. I am in Northern Vermont, about 3hrs from Boston & we just got wacked BIG time! But I guess it was in the 50's earlier in Boston, pretty crazy.

Wind-driven snow all last night, just tapering off now (5:30PM) & the roads still are just passable. Probably more than 2 Ft new + what we already had. I've been out trying to open up the bottom of our driveway, just no where to put it, banks are higher than I can reach (L3400). I was thinking how nice it would be to just blow it all into the woods.

Hang in there, you'll get your chance!

Well, I got the Puma 54 connected up today. I had to shorten the PTO shaft and use an ACME adaptor kit to attach the unit to my Cub Cadet.
