I've read these and the other "Bees/Wasps/Hornets etc. with great interest as we also have had multiple nests in the peaks of roof. My activities get me into the woods regularly and I'm always on the look out recalling all the experiences fellow TBNr's have written about.........
Last night I visit a friend (he has an Kubota L3130) to go to a club meeting. I drove around to the barn area to check out his pallet forks set-up. Get out of the truck, see his new Golden Retriever pup, walk over to the fence to rub his ears, and as I bent down I was poked in the hand by a sticker or briar or something. I look to see how I stuck my hand on a sticker without noticing it and I get poked by another in the upper leg, then another in the ankle, and another in the forearm. By now I'm observing bees/wasps and trying to look thru them to find that **** briar that's poking me. Finally, 2+2 = 4 and I react to the BEES! Back the 20 yards to the truck like a college track star. I haven't laughed at myself that hard for years. Luckily they hadn't setup the whole colony yet as my friend later informed me that he'd been through that gate multiple times during the day. He appreciated me finding the nest for him. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
