I think that's what the local farmers here call a grubber. Say the word cultivator, though, and most people will know what you're talking about.

Re: Toothbars mounting question

Andy,

Hmmm... I know that there are different sized teeth depending on the thickness of the cutting edge. Did you have to supply that measurement when you ordered your tootbar? With my JD, there is a small gap but nothing like you mentioned.

I suggest you call Carver and explain your problem. There may have been a mistake made. These things do happen.... /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Steve,
Mine is the standard toothbar (not the special) and price, which included shipping to S.E. Kansas, was $340.00. Length was listed as 72 5/8".

Re: Toothbars mounting question

After the advise about the cutting edge profile, I took another look at the tooth bar. It is made for a 1" thick cutting edge and my cutting edge is 1/2" thick. That was the fit problem. I e-mailed Carver's last night and explained the problem. Steve responded this morning and they will take care of it Monday at no cost to me.

Re: Toothbars mounting question

GLAD TO HEAR U GOT IT RESOLVED. i bought my tooth bar from carver, slipped right on, if the cutting edge does not go all the way to the bottom of the tooth grove, it ain't a problem. a lot of them don't.

Re: Toothbars mounting question

Andy,

Sorry I saw this so late - I had the same problem, but resolved it with a 0.325" thick shim under the tooth bar. Until I could make it, I actually used a plywood shim for about three weeks, which did just fine - the only time this would come into play is if you were pushing down on or dragging the teeth (causing the reinforcemnt bar to press against the bottom of the bucket / shim).

I need to shoot Carver's an e-mail to tell them about this so that they can be prepared for Bommer users who have a 1/2" lip on their bucket.

To everyone else: I don't know how I lived without that toothbar!
