You Have a Cab?

For folks who don’t enjoy their time outside in the elements, a cab is a good option. You couldn’t pay me to own one though. My full time job is in a climate controlled factory. I really enjoy my outside time on the tractors after work and on weekends. I do have a big canopy on one of my tractors though, which makes tractor operation much more comfortable in the sun and rain.

I love my cabbed tractor, but still kick myself for selling the old jd870 open station. Sometimes the cab gets in the way.
Very true.

I was lucky enough to be able to keep my open station tractor instead of trading. Both types are necessary to maintain the estate.

Open station by choice for the last 5 years, and it was not a financial decision. After all, it's a time machine, not a tractor.

It enables me live life like I did when I was 10 - playing outside everyday, chasing whatever adventure I choose - no matter the weather conditions.

Bring on the sun, bring on the cold...I like all of it. It keeps me young!

Open here too. Like Oosik noted, I rarely have any need to be out in foul weather, and summer heat isn't too bad here. Plus, a lot of the work I do with it entails a lot of get off/get on/get off, which would be a PITA with a cab.

Open here.

Lots of tight woods and the point about on/off all the time is huge. I'm rarely in the seat for more than 5 minutes at a time.

I notice most of you guys who like being in the elements are kinda situated in the northern US.

But I wonder if a 10 hour day of running a batwing cutter in 110 degree heat, and letting the dust, chaff, yellow jackets, and sharp oak limbs enrich your outdoor experience.... might change your minds? ;)

I also wonder how many hours a year open station guys put on their tractors? (I don't see many guys who operate tractors full time, as a living, like farming or ag service company, and such as this running open stations much)

Wish there was a reliable way to poll users here.

My ridged harrow can get you pretty dirty as well.

When freezing rain is coming down, and the cattle need hay in the morning, I am thankful for a cab then too.

It can get a bit crowded in the cab when my giant schnauzer jumps in the open door though!

I have to say that my cab keeps my rifle and scope pretty clean and handy in case I need it.

When I have to road the tractors, or mow bar ditches, I have a convenient place to mount the rear facing flashing lights, so I don't get run over by texting drivers. o_O

Guess I'm just a cab kinda guy!

Open cab in the woods alot.
This, but when you're out making hay you start feening for a cab like a basehead feens for a pipe, especially now that I'm in my 40's. I wish we owned a cab tractor.

I will admit that small tractors are generally ugly with cabs if that's important.
