I remember getting a vaccine for something (polio?) where they put a drop of green liquid on your skin then scratched it a few times with a needle. For some reason they did it on boys' arms, but girls' thighs. Would have been late 50s. Don't remember getting anything on sugar cubes.Remember the sugar cube with orange liquid on it for polio? I'm guessing about 1961.
Then this weird vacinnation that was like 6 short needles. I still have the white scar on my upper arm.

I suspect that may have been a regional thing, or even varying by a particular doctor's practice or hospital. All of the older women in my family have/had a scar on the upper bicep, which I remember them telling me as a polio vaccine scar.For some reason they did it on boys' arms, but girls' thighs.
