You Know You Are Old When

I had to remember where I put the winter clothes.
Each season I fold my out of season shirts and store them in a large suitcase in the basement. After removing the in season clothes to go to my closet. Out of season coats and jackets are rotated between a basement closet and my bedroom closet. A big job but I only do it twice each year.

There's a saying in Indiana..... if you don't like the weather, wait a few minutes.

We don't have defined seasons anymore.

I have at least 8 light/medium jackets in the hallway by the back door because you never know what you'll need. I usually just double them up if it's cooler and throw a raincoat over if necessary.

But in all reality, we haven't had very cold winters for a few years. Hence, the really cold weather gear is somewhere in the basement, hanging on a rod. I didn't use them last winter due to back surgery. Hope to go ice fishing this year.

Heck, last weekend was the first time it was necessary to plow the driveway in 2 years. We used to be in the snow belt.

My dad always said, the Beatles almost killed the barber shop. He had been a barber for about 4 or 5 years when the long hair fad hit, and the kids didn't want haircuts anymore.
I was a child of the 60's. Barbers lost customers and Beauticians gained customers because they could trim/style long hair without using a buzzer.

My wife and I both use the same woman to cut our hair. I have not been to a barber shop in almost 40 years. Luckily at almost 70 I still have a head full of hair. Barbers just seem to want to throw clippers at it and be done with it. The very capable lady my wife and I use seems to take more time and more concerned with getting it right.

Mine usually used a frying pan. :ROFLMAO:
I don't EVER remember my mother wearing a dress around the house, even back in the 50s. To work, yes but not around the house. Ditto for friends' mothers. Maybe a city/suburbia thing?

I remember my mother's first pair of jeans, in the early 1960's, she would have been around 41 or 42. Everyone made a big fuss about it and she was very embarrassed. Prior to that she only wore a dress.

My Grandfather cut our hair with clippers but wasn't very good. He gave my uncle and I a crewcut, but when he did my uncle the attachment fell off giving him a reverse Mohawk...so then he used brown shoe polish on the bald stripe.

I had an interesting childhood.

My brother was giving me a haircut when the blades broke.
I figure it was because I didn't want my hair cut...
