You Know You Are Old When

My dad and I loved that movie when it came out.

Not my wife's cup of tea though per comedy...

Had my young boys (at the time) watch it with me on TV as I thought they would get a kick out of it.

I COMPLETELY forgot when the girl jumps in the middle of the isle with no shirt or bra on and her boobs bouncing up and down. Completely mortified. Complete silence after that and both boys just looked at me...
The one thing I remember about that movie. Me and my friend got rained out at a drag race in Palmdale Ca. Went to the Airplane movie, when I woke up I looked over at John and he was sound asleep.😂😂😂

Made me think...

We would walk from our house to the drive in movie theater (only about a mile away in our small town off a major road), we'd put our lawn chairs in the back of the parking area behind the cars, and because it became to "technological advanced", that we could listen to the movie on our radio because you didn't have to use the speakers on the poles anymore!

Forgot about being blow away with no more car speakers at the drive in...

We went to the drive in in the trunk of the car or walked in from the back and found the car after they had paid and parked.

I got my first credit card from Sears. I was told it was a good way to establish credit. Went in on a weekend, told them I will buy that table saw. They asked if it was cash or credit. I told them credit and I was going to open the account today.

They were trying to get verification to open the account. My military ID that wouldn't expire for four years wasn't good enough. We got the card because my wife worked at the county hospital, and the weekend switchboard operator knew she worked there. They even had the gall to ask the operator if she knew how much my wife made.

The first CC I had was a Master Card. My first application was denied for some reason, so I submitted another and another. Finally, they issued me a card, then they issued a second one. So I called and asked to have the second one cancelled and the lady said "You know, it illegal for you have two of these issued to you" I said, "Yes, I know, that's why I am asking you to cancel one. If you had just issued me one the first time, I wouldn't have had to do it this way".

I think my first credit card was a BankAmerica card (which became Visa), then later I got a Sears card.

The girl that worked the admission stand at the drive in went to high school with us. I'd drive up with a friend and we'd say hi, then the three guys in the trunk would yell HI! to her as well. She'd just laugh and wave us through. 🙃

My first credit card was American Express. I worked as a field service tech, so I needed a CC for hotels, car rental etc. Trouble is, I was under 25 and at the time none of the other cards would issue cards to anyone under that age. American Express would if your employer vouched for you, which they did. They also reimbursed the annual fee. This was circa 1973-74.
First card I got on my own was a Mastercharge, when they still called it that, followed by a Discover a few years later (when it was owned by Sears). Let the MC lapse some time in the 90s, but still have the Discover.

I got discover through Costco and still have it with no complaint.
