When we moved to Oregon in 14, we saw that even local numbers you had to use the area code, any other states have to do that?

They started that in Indiana a couple of years ago. Took me a while to remember to add the area code.

I still have the phone number issued on Sept. 30, 1974 when I built this house.

I would assume the same for others with multiple area codes in the same state, we not only have to use the area code but also use a 1 in front like every call is long distance.

I've had to use all 10 digits for decades, and we only have one area code.

All cell calls require area code. And as I recall, our former land line had to switch to 1+area code+number about 10 years ago.

When I was a kid ca.1980, I thought Elvis was ancient. His top-selling albums were all in the late-1950's, so 20 - 25 years old at the time.

Then I remember Nirvana's iconic Nevermind album was 1991... 34 years ago! Feels like last week, to me.

I wasn't a big fan of Nirvana, but that album basically defined an era for most in highschool at the time.

When I was in Junior High in '63, and the Beatles exploded onto the rock music scene, I remember the music teacher stating that in two or three years no one will remember who they were. 62 years later, I would say he misjudged their popularity.

Starting October 24, 2021, residents in Indiana's 574 area code were required to use 10-digit dialing for local calls, which includes the area code, so it's been just over 4 years.

I remember that day, fortunately now most of my calls(contacts) only require one button
