Ugghhhh.... I dread that time of year. I can't stand that movie. I shudder thinking about it. Or being reminded of it... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

FX is having a marathon of their own - starting at 6 tonight, I believe, they are going to be playing Jingle All The Way for 24 hrs. That movie might be a little more tolerable. lol /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

"A Christmas Story" was the the first movie I watched with my dad and saw him belly laugh. My mom and dad divorced when I was 5 and I didn't have any relationship with him as a kid (his choice), but as adults we have been trying to spend time to catch up. The time frame of the movie would match up pretty good with his childhood and he just laughed and laughed. It seems his dad was always in search of the "major Award" by entering contests and sweepstakes too (remember this was pre state run Lotteries). So the movie has a special place for me for many reasons. I've always enjoyed Jean Sheppard's story telling, and my father and I had a rare bonding moment with this film over 10 years ago.

one of our cable channels, 41 is having a Bond marathon. I am in front of the TV, couch potato, planted and growing.
Seen them all but will see them again.

Now if they could just get Sean on a Kubota bx 23 that would be perfect.

What was the name of the sequel to A Christmas Story? I can not remember the title. The sequel was good but not as great as the first.

Dozernut; I didn't know there was a sequel, but it sounds like it is like most sequels. Anybody got a clue?

The sequel was about battling tops and the "hillbilly", next door neighbors called the Bumpasses. The neighbors had a pack of hound dogs that ate the Christmas dinner Ralphie's mom had prepared.
It seems this movie has disappeared because I can't find it doing a search on the net.

Didn't the sequel have a totally different cast? I remember seeing it as recently as two years ago, but it seems to me that the father was played by Charles Grodin? It definately didn't have the same "magic" as the first one! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif
