Chris,

My first real computer was a Sperry/Univac UYK-20 with 64K of toroidial core memory... My first personal computer was a Compaq64. I wrote Jumpman levels plus I also wrote my seperation agreement on it in the process of my first divorce...

thinking back to some of the old iron.. event he bitty box stuff.. alot of motorola 6500/65000 stuff.. even some z80 stuff. still fondle remember a timex sinclair i had. had a 16k ram pack with it.. I used a lil black and white 4.5" tv with it for a portable monitor.. that 'monitor' ran off 4 D batteries. I had rigged up a battery pack for the timex. i used a tape recorder as a external data device.

then of course at some point I had an old texas instruments box.. don't even recall wht it's architecture was. had a slant 4 as well. at one time even had a c64 with a ton of mods. there were home hacks you could do .. crystal it's speed up, add a 2nd SID chip piggy-backed with swapped addressing, adding a fan and reset switch.. rs 232 bata pack ont he card slot connector.. a couple sd 1001 1 meg drives olus the venerable 1541's

was cleaning out the shed the other day and found a box of mfm and rll hdd's some had perstore controller cards with them.. double the capacity.. half the life.. :) went well with a thomas conrad arcnet setup. I remember back in the 2nd office I worked in we had a serial network.. I can't even remember what netos I was using.. but at least one of the machiens in the office was a pcxt running doubledos as a multi tasker.. the powerhouse in the office was a 386sx16 running desqview as a mt...

them was the days.. what you could do with 4 megs of memory.. scavenging all the low ram you could by loading stuff hi.. stacking hdd's to get space.. way back before cheap hardware was out..

Started with Apple II in the 1970s... Would be valuable now as an antique. Went with Apple, IBM, Dell & others over the years. Got a Dell DT now plus a few laptops. Tractors have all been green - JD 3038 now. But there's no comparison really. Computers are consumables, tractors last.

macbook and kubota L2800 and L48

One thing I seemed to notice was way more macs on here than there in general population, have not counted but it seems like 40 or more % on here and I think macs are under 10% market share still??

to get a real data set.. though.. you'd not only have to see % of ownership.. but then compare #'s IE.. having 10 people and 4 own mac, and 6 own pc is 1 data set.

then when you break it down furthere.. of those 4 that own mac. how many mace do they own? a total of 4 between 4 people? of the 6 that own a pc.. how many do they own? 9 between 6 people? then you get a different data set to comapair. especially if you factor in total household units. many people that have kids liekly may have seperate units for their kids... or even wife. thus a single household with mom/dad/jr and sister might have 4 pc's living there. that might be why the adjusted mac market share 'looks' lower, is when you divide out the 'per capita' data. sure.. 4 out of 10 may own them.. but the pc's might still outnumber the macs by more than 2:1 ( imaginary numbers fo r sake of argument..e tc.. )

all the various smart phones and 'other' platforms get tossed into the mix as well.

i'm not seeing a distinct correlation between tractor and computer type.. other than.. people get a tool to fill their needs.. and at that point.. it's whatever computer or tractor that fit those needs, with respect to budget constraint.

I have Dell Laptop & old Gateway PC (seldom used) with Bobcat tractor.
Some interesting data. I did a little spreadsheet to count posts. Seems Kubota owners prefer Apple systems almost 2 to 1 (11 vs 6) and 42% responding listed an Apple system of some type (23 of 55 replies listed an MAC,iPad, or iPhone).
For some reason cannot download the sheet to post it.

Toshiba laptop (Win7), Dell desktop (RH Linux), and at least 10 antique computers of all sorts dating to 1988.
Oh yeah, and a New Holland tc34da in the barn. Until I bought the Toshiba, the tractor was the newest of them all.

Advertisors are already doing everything imaginable to try and track and/or profile people. Now they're associating the type of computer someone is using with what kind of tractor they're likely to purchase? I guess it's a good thing my useragent string is false, thus not broadcasting accurate computer and browser information to websites I visit.

Yes, I'm paranoid when it comes to guarding my privacy. :)

My Kubota B7100 correlates to my IBM 7060. Both are small capable workhorses and I don't use either near enough these days.
I 'm just upgrading the IPAD to IOS 5 as I type this, surrounded by 3 desktops, 2 towers and 3 laptops, Running various generations of windows and Linux. My Android phones see a lot of web use too.
My new toy is a Raspberry Pi. It correlates to my weed whipper. :)
I think I need more tractors to restore balance to my universe.

Asus laptop, Toshiba Laptop, (Asus tablet in the works), Droid 4, Blackberry 9300, NH TC 40. I think I may need more tractor power. Maybe something modern, like an 8N, to balance out all the tech.

Custom built overclocked PC AMD 25 inch screen setup. $800 build

John Deere 3320
John Deere 70

Computers are one thing i hate spending money on. Guessing because i work around them every day i see them as more of a pain in the butt tool than a toy.
