I see a good number of used woods 3 point mowers at auction. They seem to survive well. You do have the usual wear items of belts and blades. I hope to still be enjoying my Kubota for a few more summers. To be honest I do not recall what brand I own right now. It is orange in color. I have had a Bush hog finish mower as well as a Woods. It will soon be time to mow so now is a good time to be looking.

If you only take it off at the end of the mowing season, you might consider paying the dealer to send a guy out. My local Kubota dealer has a "road guy" for small service, oil changes & maint. The price of a mower would pay for quite a few years of having them save you from wrestling with it, I'd think. You deserve to treat your self!
I had a Woods RM-59 and then a RM-72 (I think), they were good mowers but I don't think that they were as good as a "belly mount" on much less than nice flat lawn's. They just did not "float" well on uneven terrain.

Youre just moving your struggle from under the tractor to behind it ;) Even in a rear hookup there can be a lot of effort required to line up the arms and pto shaft.

Of course a 3pt quick hitch can make life a lot easier for sure. There are even some 3pt qh that will hookup PTO too, but those arent available for compacts as far as I know.

Id consider what Rustyiron suggests first, call the dealer and see what they'd charge to do a seasonal removal and install. Might be the best option all around. I think your flail cost estimates are also a fair bit on the low side for something "rugged".

I just got a 84" landpride 3 pt finish mower. I am a generally handy and big guy to boot. Most of the hitch hookups aren't all that bad, but I still need my wife once in a while to pull the mower belt to turn the PTO shaft so the splines line up. Same goes for a midmount mower driveshaft on my smaller tractor.
