AxleHub I do not like the sound of your take on dealership relationship value but do agree with you. We are living in changing times.
Now buying new one will be 'more' married to a dealership.
Greetings Gale,
I don't like the sound of my take on dealership relationship value either. But it is unfortunately too true to be avoided.
Today . . Corporate dealership owning is a fact which changes the situation. Where we once knew a majority of dealerships wrre locally owned and operated now many of them are corporate owned . . Just like family farms vs. Corporate farms.
And owning a dealership 30 years ago was different in othet ways from today as well. Manufacturers put different pressures on today requirig even greater financial risks to small dealerships.
And just when they want to retire is now when stresses are even greater. I can't tell yo how many threads I've read on tbn in the last 6 months . . Where the person bought a tractor and th dealership was sold and the new dealer was much different than the prior one. And here sits a customer haing trouble with tje new dealer and his tractor is 6 or 8 months old.
I picked the product I liked/needed and researched it. I walked into several dealers locations of that product knowing more about the product than the salesmen. But I kept looking until I found a good dealer who knew more than I did. BUT he was considerably further away . . . I'll take that . . I'd much rather have good and 2 more travel hours each way . . than close and nothing else. Jmho
