Your socket organizers

All this organization... I have everything all over the place. Once a month or so, I'll go around and collect all the sockets from the workbench, vice area, cabinets, electrical bench, welder cart, under my rolling seat. THen toss them in the drawers. First is metric socket, then sae socket, then metric wrenches, then sae wrenches, then ratchets/extensions, then screwdrivers. I'm usually working until the 11th hour, seldom time to get a proper clean up.

Can't go there. While admittedly the rest of my shop is usually a mess, all hand tools are put up and locked every day.

Foam and harbor freight racks keep me organized

Foam in all my tools. Easy to see what's missing and stop them from moving

Is that foam custom to snap on boxes, or is it cut and fit? Where do you get something like
That?

I cant keep my tool box drawers organized. I have so many screw drivers, they get their own drawer, and its full. Wrenches, Standard in one drawer and metric in the other, and they are packed. sockets, to many to count, but that dont mean anything, cant ever find a 9/16 or 1/2 inch when I need one. My little roll around box in my basement shop is probably the best organized. Instead of a dozen of one thing, I have one of everything and a drawer to put it in. I used to have a small tool set in three different trucks, kept certain tools on my tractors. Kept a small set in the trunk of my car and my pickup. When I sold my business, I kept the tools and now I have so many handtools, I cant fine what I need when I need it. Its there, somewhere, I just have to dig for it.

I forgot to add the kitchen cabinet drawer, If I leave a tool laying around, thats where my wife puts it.

Bill. I find your system very effective for finding that tool you needed LAST week. :)

I am always in awe of those of you who keep your tools that organized. I really have to work at it. I always stop what I am doing every couple of months and devote a day to organizing my tools and sheds. I sometimes get everything so organized I can't remember where I put things and still ending up searching for an hour. I also have that kitchen drawer with all kinds of goodies hiding in there.

Start by labeling your drawers... and not the one's your wearing.

I did something similar to my toolbox at work.

I used this stuff...
Kaizen Foam - FastCap - Woodworking Tools

Works great. It's multi-layered. So you outline a tool, say a screwdriver, then use a thin razor knife (dollar at harbor freight) and carve out the outline. You go deeper in the screwdriver handle area and shallower in the shank area, then peel out one or two layers under the shank, and three or four layers under the handle. Custom fit!
