Thought I would share some photos of my replacement for my Dodge dually. Been thinking about this for a few years then when I lost fifth gear on my rebuilt transmission, I decided to sell the Dodge after ten years of ownership.

Picked up this FL70 with a 3126E/nine speed about four of five weeks ago. With 550k on it, I had to do a bit of "detailing" such as new rear brakes, rewireing here and there, a little paint on the tanks, etc. etc. It has had a new head and turbo, does not seem to blow or leak oil, etc. so I should be good to go for the limited amount of miles I need it for.

Yesterday was my "maiden" voyage out on the road to pick up some hay and some grain. I knew it would attract attention but man o' man, everyone was checking it out.

some times i think what you bought is the only way to buy a half decent trunk now days. when i read about all the problems that major three have.
i hate to say it but i'd even like to see toyota come out with a 1 ton diesel.
i've never own any thing but ford trucks and cars and haven't bought a new one sense 2000 and the last use one i bought was in 04. I'm just tired of spending good money on expensive crap that doesn't last.
anyway i do like the truck should give you many happy miles.

quarterhorse, nice rig! I think that truck, and the GN 20K dump would be a great combination. That dump is a bit much for a 1 ton, even a dually esp when overloadded, and runnign steep terrain.I know when my 7 T dump is at 15-16K,its a lot behind my 2500 Cummins, not for the engine, but the truck really gets thrown around if its rough roads or no roads.

Thanks for the comments. The truck was a good option for me. The farm tags and insurance are the same as for a dually along with a max GCW of 38k leaving me with plenty of room with my dump. It is not a daily driver so I can live with 10mpg. I picked it up for 10k (somewhat down in your neck of the woods, Big Bri, Deridder) and have so far put about 1,500 in it doing my own work. That is far cheaper than a new or half way decent dually would have run me. I do wish it had an engine or exhaust brake as the CAT has absolutely no back pressure when I let off of the throttle. Nor does it have a locking rear which is nice for the soft KY soil. A Blue Ox exhaust brake and a set of chains will solve those issues. With an air ride rear axle, cab and both seats, the ride is not only better than my dually but even my F150. The view of the road is unreal with the heighth. Lastly, Raw Dodge, you are correct in that though the Dodge would easily pull the tandem trailer, it would push me around when loaded pretty heavy.

They sure did make their presence known....(read that they were noisy). Buddy of mine has one (now for sale) and he complains that my PowerStroke is noisy

anyway...nice looking for an older 'Burb.

Here is my tow rig with our horse trailer. I put the tractor on our fastline 22' flatbed.
