and all files will erase in 10 seconds. Click recover and update my files to prevent loseing your files and programs. That's what the pop-up said when my computer froze and an ear piercing squeal started. Happened last week and again last evening. Fortunately,I have a friend that was able recover my computer and all is well again. Has anyone else experienced this?

No, but i would be very suspicious of anything like that. A corrupt system doesnt just start erasing files, sounds like a prompt for a virus by clicking.. Were you browsing when this came up?

BS. Just turn it off, don't click anything. Then power on.

Oh, and quit visiting those **** sites.....

Those are scare tactics. Fake warning message to get you to click on the link to install their virus, malware, etc. I have help a bunch of people clean up computers after they clicked it.

As others have said just say no and turn it off.

Ya'll brought it up,not me but I was browsing this site both times. I had clicked some pics and links but I don't know that one was the culprit. I intentionally didn't mention TBN in my original post but did inquire if anyone had experienced this particular cyber attack without mentioning TBN. I'm happy to hear no one else on TBN has had the problem. Every ransomware I've experienced over the years froze the computer and the only way of escaping was to remove the battery but my present laptop require's extensive disassembly just to change the battery. That's why I let my tec friend do it with keystrokes.

I've had the same thing 3 times in the last month. I know I was on TBN the last time (this morning), but don't remember what I was on the other times. I think I was reading the news on Bing. But each time I just shut down the computer, then restarted it.

if you EVER find that an advertisement here has a virus, report it IMMEDIATELY to a Moderator or the Administrator!. I am very well aware that some advertising companies whether intentional or mistakenly serve malware ads!.. I use Kaspersky total security, AdGuard, uBlock origin, and VERY rarely get even a notification that malware was deleted, because it was stopped before it became a problem!.. I don't click on ads, and I delete emails that I don't know, and I check the address of those that seem legit, but are actually Phishing emails!..

I've had nothing telling me anything is corrupted. I use Adaware by Lavasoft. It's free and quite good. I'm sure I've used it for at least fifteen years - maybe twenty - maybe more.

I have had the exact same problem twice on my desktop and once on my laptop, all three times while on TBN. I just shut down the computer each time and don`t seem to have any lingering effects.

Typically the problem is not coming from the website. But from the ad networks.

The ads you see on a website are served up by a third party broker when the page is loaded. The scammers buy ad placements so their nastiness will get placed across many different websites.

Ad blockers (along anti-virus and anti-malware software) will help keep this crap away.

I was on TBN yesterday and Norton stopped something that crashed the page. It was some sort of redirect.

Well, I was on "Good Morning" on TBN when it just did it again. I simply closed the browser and reopened it.

Yeah, and I always run my crap cleaner and Malwarebytes.

spybot search&destroy has an immunization feature that I use. it inserts the addresses of malware sites to block into the hosts file, so you can't possibly go there!..

That's why you use a really good antivirus software and only go to trusted **** sites

Never had any problems like what the OP is talking about. But my Windows 10 (laptop and desktop units) have been "corrupted" by Microsoft just about every time they force an "update" that I don't want. Right now I'm fighting a problem with the touchpad on my laptop being randomly disabled; a quick search of the internet points to one of the Microsoft updates. Yet Microsoft counters that its due to a driver than needs updating...and when I try to update the driver, I get a message that I have the latest driver already installed!
Wish I could go back to Windows 7.......

I have not used any anti-virus protection in twenty years and I can't say, that I have been compromised. Seems to me, the cure is as bad as the virus. Such programs used to slow my computer down terribly, running in the background.
