I've seen one case where a good youtube review was followed by a run on a product and a jump in the prices online sellers were charging. The price was lower again a month or so later.

Another case involved a product recommendation by a popular youtube mechanic. For whatever reason, the price in his link was higher than what he said he'd paid.

Lesson learned: I now make doubly sure to give the seller's price a good hard look before I order.

If I'm running Firefox I run a browser extension like Honey when on Amazon. It shows prices changes and you can see the history of price fluctuations. It also works on some other sights. It auto enters coupons found online and sometimes you get a bargain.
