I dug into it last night and was able to trace the power all the way through the safety switches. I also found out that the mower should still be under the 2 year warranty so I need to call a dealer to see what to do next.

well a wierd thing happened last night... it started... I decided to switch batteries from another tractor, still did not start, then I wanted to see if I was getting power to the starter, ended up shorting the circuit and popping the fuse. Replaced the fuse and it started right up! I know I had looked a the old fuse multiple times, making sure it was seated and that it "looked" good.. and I was getting power(test light definitely was not as bright as it is now though).. So I am thinking that the fuse was partially blown and the short finally blew it.

I put my Z-50 in the ditch a few times too at first. Here is the best method I have found for staying safe and not breaking front spindles. I back down into the ditch perpendicularly to the level I want to mow (mine is deep enought for three passes) . Then, carefully rotate 90deg. As you begin to mow point the wheels slightly uphill as you might have to "crab" a little to keep going straight and not slip downhill. At the culvert end , I sometimes go up and out at an angle or stop and pivot uphill and climb out. If you slip and spin, kill the PTO and raise your deck and you will come out 99% of the time.

I am glad my 50" is wide and does not have the rear drag wheels my friends Hustler has as I got hung up in my ditch when I borrowed it one time.

Hydrostats are the same way. It takes a while to get past what I call the "Hydro Hustle".

You know what I mean. Take someone who has never driven a Hydro and put them on it in a (LARGE) area and let them go. LOL!!! Neck snapping forwards, reverses, stops

And when they try to stop they get into that fight between reverse and forward, jumping back and forth and not moving a foot the whole time
