I purchased a Z force SZ commercial unit to mow 8 acres. I get tossed around a bit since there is no seat belt. Has anyone else put a seatbelt On their mower. Or is there no seatbelt because there's no ROPS?

You do not want to be tied to the machine if it has no rops

Is the issue that you bounce off the seat and the blades shut off? I let some air out of the tires and it helps quite a bit.

You are correct that there is no seat belt as there is no ROPS. On my Bad Boy, if I elected to add ROPS they would have also installed seat belts.

OP - would also recheck those tire air pressures.... many machines are overinflated at the factory for shipping purposes and deflation back to operating pressure gets missed during predelivery setup.
Also agree that w/o rops, you don't want seat belt tying you to machine.

No Rops no seatbelt.

I run about 10 psi in my ZD, and it has a suspension seat too. Get into the rough stuff and even it will bounce you around. Lawn mower not bush hog!

My dealer recommended 10 psi in my Z Force but that is what was bouncing me out of the seat just enough to cause problems. I lowered it to 8 psi and only have a problem in one tire rut. I filled it in once but didn't compact it enough and it settled just enough to be a problem. I'll take care of that soon.

And I agree, No Rops no seatbelt.

I lowered the pressure in the tires and it did help the ride.

However, I was wondering if anyone knows if a ROPS can be added to an RTZ commercial, or if the frame is just not made to accept a ROPS?

Is there a particular reason for wanting a ROPS?

Mines folded down all the time, its a tree catcher, arguably more dangerous than having it down.

ZTRs have a very low COG. Youd be hard pressed to roll one on a "reasonable" slope. You may slide, but not roll. Now if there is a drop off like a ditch or something at the bottom of a hill (etc) you may want a ROPS in case you happen to roll into the ditch.

Apparently Cub makes a Rops equipped, model Tank SZ so it might be possible to adapt it to yours if the frame is the same (or close)

You make a good point that escaped me. One of the reasons I purchased this was to work around trees and the ROPS would be in the way completely. I'm just under the tree line as it is.

I have one pass on my hill side that is worrisome, my top front wheel likes to leave the ground slightly. I try moving to the high side of the seat but the seat switch isn't happy about that. But your right, the ROPS would be a hindrance for all the trees I cut around. Thanks for the input.
