Z400 starter wiring

Hi i have a Z400 engine. there is no wiring on the starter at all. i was wondering wat is the correct way to wire it. the only way i see, which im sure is wrong, is to put a wire from the positive post to the little male flat plug to act as a jumper. any input or pictures are greatly appreciated.
