ZD21 v BX2200 or ZTR v SubCompact

Ben and I had a little off line thread when he sent private mail to me. I by no means am belittling him or his decision. Text on boards never gives people thetrue context of my statements. I still strongly feel he will regret not getting a more versitile machine based on our off line discussions. BUT he can always trade it in. ;^) (at a nice loss but...)
Trescrow:
Not only am I glad I took your advice on the BX, but I wish i would have just had them bolt on the FEL in the first place.

Thanks Trescrows, but I am not mad at anyone. I know he is "he is pasionate about his BX." His post actually made me smile. However, as madhouse says, there is a big difference between 9K, and 13K. My needs hardly justify 6K. I dont know what his situation is, but if I need any large work done, I can get my hands on a large tractor. Once again, I have not yet TOTALLY ruled out the BX. (I figure that it aint over 'till the dotted line is signed) There is really no need for harsh feelings here. I am here to consult with owners of equipment. Once again, I thank everyone for their responses.

On a different note, I don't own any members, and when Woodstock apologizes to the Front End Loaders, Electric Shutes, all 60 Mid Mount Decks, Agricultural Tires, and Mr. John Deere, then I will apologize for abbreviating the word "Japanese" while complimenting them on having finest engineers in the industry.

13k
- 9k
-------
=4k not 6k (still a healthy sum though, no argument there)

As for the "Jap" issue. I think those who where around in the WWII era interperate that as the very derragatory use of the word that existed in that time frame. Younger members would not even have that occur to them. My dad uses that word occasionally. And in fact, he means it! It's all in your lifes perspective. I am certain Boner meant no disrespect based on the contaxt of his use.

I stated 6k because this is the cost of a Kubota TG1860 Diesel, the minimum unit I would buy.

The guy who read into what I said must have a guilty conscious.

Last spring when I was looking for a mower to replace my John Deere 112 w/48 in deck, I would have jumped on a ZD and never looked back. (If they were availible then) I wandered into a Kobota dealer looking for something old and used. I saw the BX2200 and knew that would fill the bill for me. I almost passed up on the front end loader. I am really glad I got that. I harldly ever take it off it is so usefull. It comes off and goes on easier than the mower deck. The deck is easier to drop than the John Deere deck is. I have not even started the Deere since I got the BX. I'd better do that soon before it freezes up. You can be pretty happy with a ZD I'm sure. But I am close to estatic with my BX.

As Rogue said earlier, the FEL is the real advantage of the BX. The more I wind down from this tractor search, the more I feel the ZD21 will be far overkill for what I need. ...Perfect! If all goes well, I will pick up the ZD21 tomorrow, or tuesday. I drove 2 hours one way (with trailer) to pick it up yesterday, but they had a "computer problem" and could not complete the sale. :( I got to see it, drive it, fondle it, but I could not bring it home. Could you imagine how long the drive home was? I guess it's all good though, because I pointed out a few things that needed attention. All adjustments I suppose. I did notice some scratches here and there. He said it had to have happened in the crate, because they were extremely careful with the units. I still think it sucks to spend top dollar with something that is scratched down to the bare metal. But if it is happening in the crate, then I would not be better off ordering another one? Anybody else have this happen on their baby? Thanks for the info.

Ben, I don't know how often it happens. When I made the deal to buy my B2710, they had to order a loader for it so I had to wait on it a couple of weeks. I didn't see it until it was delivered, but the day before it was delivered, my brother was at the dealership and called me that evening to say he had seen it, that they had just finished putting the loader on it, and were touching up the paint when he was there. I never noticed any scratches or paint damage when it was delivered, so I guess what you don't know won't hurt you./w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Boner:
Kubotas are allergic to paint.
Mine was chipped all to hell. It's even worse after 10 hours of use. Get the touch up paint (free if possible). Or dont worry about it, since it wont be anywhere near rusting out before you go to trade it on the BX.
JUST KIDDING EVERYBODY ;^)

I did notice one small flake on the underside on the body. I mean real small...but IT IS real new! I asked him what would be the case if I hit it with a pressure washer and a big chunk of paint flew off, and he said it would absolutely be under warranty. The others are some kind of bad scuff that has gone through the paint, and another down on the right side of the deck, probably done while driving onto a trailer. He said he would provide touch up paint. So far, I really like this dealer. There was the computer problem, but he said that was with KCC in Fort Worth(?). As far as being freindly, and price, I could not ask for more. Hopfully this thread will soon move to Pricing, or Owning a Kubota! :)

What kind of price did you get on the ZTR? I have a L3410HST but would like to add the ZTR just for mowing.
