Zen-noh ZL2201 (Kubota L2201) Questions

Most questions have already been covered,but here is my 10c worth.
The L2201 is most similar to L245. i will obtain PTO speeds four the 4 ratios and post next time.The 3 cyl engine does in fact have a water pump, which we feel is a bonus in hot weather. The thermosyphon systems on 2 cyl L1500/L1501/L1801 still works well, and we have no real problems with overheating on east coast of OZ.

The L2201 does not have an over-run clutch so we use a locally sourced combination over-run/slip clutch which is fitted on the slasher input shaft. This is realatively inexpensive and reliable system. See www.bareco.com.au for these and other tractor parts.

The PTO turns in neutral due to oil dragging ,circulating through the box.This is normal.

Most parts from L245 will fit but small differences exist in PTO gears, throttle levers, etc but none of these will stop you from maintaining the tractor with locally sourced parts.

BillK, thanks for the additional information. I would appreciate the specs on the PTO speeds if you can get it. Is the required overrun clutch specific to the L2201, or will any overrun clutch work as long as it fits a standard PTO shaft?

I saw an L2000 at the shopping centre the other day pulling trolleys ! - It appeared identical to my :1501 but seemed to have 3 cylinders.

What do you know about that one.

I know the L245 is physically bigger than mine, and has 3 cyl, but this appeared to be the same chassis etc. but a bigger donk??

The L2000 is just an earlier model. Just like the L1500 and L1501. One replaced the other. The larger 3 cyl models seem to have water pumps. Otherwise they are just a stretched version of the 2 cyl models.

Greetings, I am needing information on my Kabota L2201. Havn't used it for awhile but now need to service the hydraulic fluid line and possibly bleed it...can someone please inform me to which input I put the fluid, is it the one nearest the seat between the gear lever and seat? and as to how much. I have no use whatsoever of bucket and slasher so would need the whole amount...and how do I bleed the line? All info would be gratefully accepted..many thanks ...Bushchick

Welcome Bushchick,

This thread is a little dusty (old) but I'll help if I can:

The filler plug IS the one you described at the rear of the shifters and it will take every bit of 5 gallons of hydraulic trans/fluid.

As you sit, the internal filter screen located nearly under the L/R axle and covered with two cap screws and flange cover SHOULD be removed, cleaned and replaced before the new fluid is added (and, of course, old fluid is drained).

Bleeding the hydraulic lines isn't necessary. Just operate the draft control/3PH a few times and the system will cycle all the air out and fluid back to your reserivor.

I currently have a L2201 in my shop for a major appearance overhaul . Most everything I've needed I found through Danny Parker (205-646-3033 Untitled Parker equipment, Thorsby, AL).

The Grey market L2201 and Domestic L245 are nearly identical.

I need help finding a "starter motor" for a Kubota (gray market) L2201 2wd. Does anyone out there have any info. on getting this and other parts for this model? thanks for any help I can get.

In the past I have found the quickest and least expensive way to handle starter problems is to have it rebuilt. Recently had this experience with my tractor and for around $100. had the starter rebuilt in a days time. This compared to over $300. for a new one and the uncertainty of weather it was the same form and fit.

Does anyone know if a zen noh ZL2202fd is the same as a 2201. I hope it's just a designation for 4 wheel drive.
