I had the same problem finding the correct size for a 2385 backhoe, and eventually bought them from a Kioti dealer. Package of ten. Perfect fit.

P/NO: 4001-0001
P/Name. GREASE NIPPLE

I dread the thought of replacing another grease zerk on my Kioti KB2465 backhoe. The truth of the matter is neither the metric or pipe thread (1/8) replacement seem to to fit as a replacement. Now something is screwy here. I went right to the manual and consulted the parts break downs. There are a few illustrations that show grease zerks in my book (owner's manual, KB2465, parts illlustation included, Book part # bt663-5000, dated January 2007. They list a phone number of1-919-374-5100 and a fax #1-919-374-5001).

Illustrations of the boom, dipper and dipper cylinder do show a grease zerk which clearly refers to P.T. 1/8. In the past my dealer has confirmed this. Clearly, just as Coyotemachine has experienced neither Pipe thread (1/8) nor the metric size easily thread in. Could the factory have turned out a few units with some bad dies. I'm wondering.

Maybe Monday I will call that phone number but in the meantime, can't anybody check their book for the KB2485 and see what is called for?

I just installed a KB2485 and my manual states PT 1/8. I don't expect the manual to be updated as quickly as parts change. Kioti does a poor job on their website so I don't expect any better on their literature. I would suggest to remove a good Zerk from YOUR backhoe and take that with you when searching for a replacement. From reading this thread I would guess that not everyone has the same Zerk fittings on their Backhoe. Good luck.

Got around to finding a couple of 1/8" zerks and they do NOT fit my backhoe. I took out the old broken piece and another good one and switched positions to keep the old Kioti factory supplied one in the position where I broke off the original Zerk. Tried for some time to screw in the 1/8" replacement and it would not go. I tried wrenching it carefully to get it started and it wanted to tear out the threads in the hole.
Tried the old good factory one and had to chase the threads. Called my dealer to confirm exactly what is the right one and he said they are definitely metric but he too has had problems because some metric ones don't seem to work either!?
I'll probably get some from him next time I get over to his shop.
Thought I'd bring people up to date on this topic- though I still don't have any clear answers as to what exactly to buy as to pitch and thread size.:confused2:

Again, I know exactly what you are talking about. I've tried every everything close and NOTHING fits. Please post on here if you ever find the answer. I actually have a couple of 1/8" on my hoe that started enough to at least get grease in. It's almost like some proprietary thread was used. Good luck.

The KB2485 book calls for 1/8" PT. But they won't fit.

Thanks all for your replies!:D
It's clear that nothing is absolute when it comes to the correct Zerks for the various backhoes and probably for the tractors too. I will continue to try to find out what exactly is the type and size for them in the meantime.

Hey guys.
Thought I'd share my experience with you.....the same thing you all have experienced w/ the BH is what you will more than likely experience w/ the tractor.

After 10+ hours on my DK40SE HST I tried to grease all my zerks. I had 5 that I couldn't get to work. Three were on the 3pt hitch and the other two were the zerks under the front axle.

I had them checked at the 50hr service but before that, I tried to replace them like you are trying to do on the BH. I ran into the exact same problem!!!

If I recall correctly, the dealer had to replace the ones on the 3pt hitch but the 2 under the axle were just stubborn and did accept grease....just a tight fit/tolerance under there I guess?

Long story short, I had to resort to my dealer to get the zerks.....going to auto parts stores and TSC didn't help. Maybe picking up a package of zerks from your dealer might not be a bad idea???

I find this all somewhat affirming; I thought it was just me. I've tried metric, NPT (per manual), and a 5pak from the dealer in my 2010 2485 - none reliably fit. When a zerk needs replacing I grab one of each and see what fits best. Frankly, the best fit is often still not great.

So, something is weird with the 2485 zerk threads. Before getting heavy-handed with the first one I thought about it for weeks (even switched zerks as someone described already). I finally decided that a broken zerk was a greater liability than forcing a new one in. Cutting new threads is a big job and over-kill if I can get something in well enough to keep grease in and water out. Since the zerk is being threaded in I figure any broken thread bits are unlikely to be pushed into the joint. I've probably done about 6 this way, the factory zerks have been flimsy on mine.

My $0.02.

I had the same replacement problems on my CK25 loader. I tried metric and standard but nothing fit. I asked Michigan Iron about it and I think they said they were British Pipe Thread versus National Pipe Thread. I still haven't got replacements yet but hope that might help.

The zerks most likely are a metric pipe thread, they are tapered. They can be found. The thread is the same as the straight threaded ones, but they are tapered. You will have to look, I bought some a couple of years ago.

The other option is to look for brass ones and upset them when you put them in.
