Price Check zero turn mowers and price differences

Nat,
I do not have any expericence with the specific brands you asked about, but if you drive all those models I'm guessing the price difference will be better understood. If your considering spending 6k for a ZTR you might want to check out SCAG. They only make commercial ZTR's. 6k will get you one with 48" cut. ExMark also makes good ZTR's. I bought a SCAG Wildcat 27hp Kohler vtwin, 61" deck and really like it. My yard is not real smooth so I do not mow at full speed, but I still get done quicker than I used to. Mowing around trees and whatnot is a breeze. I have turf tires on mine and it does fine on my little slopes. I've seen some ZTR's on landscaping trailers that have something like R4's on em. I don't need them, but its good to know they are an option.

Yooperdave: I have had a JD 620ztrac for about five years now, bought it new with the collection system. I love the machine, have had no problems and does a great job mowing. If I were buying for lawn mowing ( I mow 2-3 acres of lawn) with lots of trees, landscaping, etc a ztr is the only way to go for me. There are some operator learning curve issues for steep side hill mowing, best approached straight up and down, and if you have the collection system where you dump from the seat (great feature plus good for leaf collection-don't blow leaves anymore- and composting) you will learn to watch the outside upper corner so not to hang up and bend the dump lever, which I do a couple of times each year just so I can keep in practice straightening it back out. Would I get the 620 again? Yep, in a NY minute! Other ztr's are probably just as good, but I have a good Deere dealer close, and I'm a JD guy.

Well, there are many suggestions regarding the "best" ZTR but since I have a Ferris product then I consider them the "best" /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif All kidding aside, when I was researching ZTR's the one point that kept surfacing was price. You get what you pay for. So I purchased what I considered the best price for my needs. My Ferris 3000is has rear wheel suspension, built like a tank, 25hp kawasaki engine and I paid $7500 brand new. Here is a PIC of my Ferris 3000is
