zero turn mowers EXPENSIVE

I actually priced one of those for my farm where I mow about 30 acres; think F150 xlt model...

Ha! Nothing is inexpensive anymore.

Maybe a genius will figure out a mower that can be attached to a F150!

Yup, thats me, jus some guy who cuts lawns with my 12-foot lawn mower. I have a 15 footer, too. :laughing:

Is that crop irrigated? If i showed your picture to a couple if my ranch friends, they would choke up. One went in the hole last year buying hay....

As just “ some guy who cuts lawns “ I am a good steward to the land. Top dressing helps soil hold moisture during times of drought :thumbsup:

I ordered a 6 x 14 ft utility trailer from the local mom and pop equipment store. At least 2 weeks, he has a waiting list.

I mentioned that I would need to put my zturn on the trailer........ once i bought one.

He started telling me all about his Ariens with a Kohler gas engine, right around $5K. He's had his for 6 years and loves it.

Any comments or experiences with the Ariens brand?

The local blue tractor dealer in Shiner sells Gravely and will order Ariens. I'm looking at the Apex 52". Look at the specs for tires size, and hydro-motors and compare them to others for the same price point.
Now for me it's either save 480 and change using lowes vet discount or buying straight from dealer. I may still go with dealer. I've bought nearly all implements from him and has treated me well. His prices are good as he's young and knows we all shop around. His customer service has me coming back.

When we spoke last year he mentioned the Gravely equivalent and shared with him all the bad reviews I've read on their website. Then he mentioned that the Ariens was a better price and would order one for me when ready.
Having looked at all colors and spec'd them all out for those that have filters then fuel tank size, tire size etc. It's my go to choice.
Course having closed on the house and finally just settling in, budget took a whupping.
So may have to delay a bit. But for sure do not want shredder anywhere near all these windows....

Hard to beat 46 Urea prills for moisture retention....

Expensive is what killed off the true Garden tractors and morphed them into the SCUT catagory. A good ZTR will also set you back a decent amount. But, with that quality comes the ability to keep said machine in service much longer. So you have figure that into the equation. Something the younger generation struggles to do it seems. Many trade off a vehicle the first time it has a major issue outside of the warrenty, or when it even needs a new set of tires. Seen it so many times I dont even shake my head any longer. I would rather drop the big $$ once, then be able to run that item for years if not most of my time on this planet. Heck, we even had folks, back when I worked for a couple different L&G dealerships as a mechanic, that though since they dropped a huge sum of money on a high end ZTR, that ment they could neglect common upkeep, then come in and get all pissed off when things broke, caught fire(from all the dried chaff packed around the engine) or developed head issues from being overheated from a dirty/oily, chaff packed engine. A couple months ago I bought a Kubota zero turn mower off Iron Planet. I am not mechanical but it seemed okay. I used it to cut my back field of about three acres and it did great. Saved about 7k over new, which was the only way I could justify.

Kubota makes zero turns for under $4000 and up for their gas models. Competitive with other models of different store brands. I've owned the least expensive one and the most expensive gas model and both operated great and cut great and no issues with either model. I did add mulching kit to both of them to offset my hating side discharge decks and liking several factors of the rear discharge decks. The gas models actually did better jobs of "grass cutting" than my more expensive diesel model ZDs and Fs. Kubota dealer said the Kubota gas Z mowers had very few issues.
