ZG222 battery access

I live in Vermont and my mower sits for 5 months of winter. Anyone figure out how to hook a battery tender up? The battery is hidden under the cowl and not easily accessible. I'd like to hook up a tender or take the battery out if there was an easy way. I'm sure someone knows the secret. Anyone?

the battery cover should just be held on with to wing nuts
