A few years ago a thread started and went for months? and maybe 100 pages that became fair game for ramblings of movies watched, weather and even politics (spoofing). Can't remember what it was started as or I'd "Bring it back".:D :cool2:
I may try to find a zip tool that cuts for the rare zipping I do now that I'm aware of the availability of such a tool and dangers/ugly of uncut zips. I have to own almost any tool made even though I don't use but a few of them any more.

never have enough tools...

but I never thought I'd consider a zip tie cutter. Still not sure I will...:)

Buy a Zip tie Gun. They pull tight then cut.

that's fine for easy to get at zips, but I'd think the tool would get in the way at times.

I spent a lot of money on a high quality connector crimper because it really could do a better job
than I could. And yes, that big crimper gets in the way at times. I'm just not sure there is any
sane case here where for occasional use, a flush cut cutter and a tug with the other hand isn't
100% of what is needed.

Now if that zip tie gun looks really cool....

I too had never heard of a Zip Tie Gun. Like others, I think the use might be limited in my World. But if a user was constantly using Zip Ties it would be handy. So my gain from this thread is the knowledge of such a tool. I'm happy.

This product is a time saver! I absolutly LOVE it! Will buy another one in the future!

etc, etc.
Sigh.

Now just how much time are we saving here?

for production use of any kind, it makes a great deal of sense because the tool is so cheap.
And I suppose like my fancy crimper it might snug up the tie more consistently, if in fact I even wanted or needed
a consistent approach.

six bucks. Well, it does look kinda neat...:confused3:

If you have a Hired Hand who is Strong like Bull, Smart like Tractor, the guns may help prevent tie breakage...

All joking aside.... You got it Daugen, the guns were designed (from a Time/Motion standpoint) for production work. Putting 6 ties on your tractor, you won't notice much difference time wise. 1000++ on a production line in a day, different story.

For critical industrial applications that get inspected, the tie tension matters. A properly set up gun helps prevent having to redress 20, 50, or 100+ feet of wire loom, that didn't get past an eagle eyed inspector.

For what I do at home these days, long nose pliers and a good set of flush cutting pliers works for me.

But..... My name is Dave, and I'm an addicted Tool Collector....... so I'm likely to end up with one the next time I stop by HF ! :D
