I put the zip lock back into a wide-mouth canning jar, fold the edges over the rim of the jar, then stick a wide-mouth canning funnel in the bag opening and fill.

Pretty simple thing, but I can see it actually helping. My wife and I often "double up" to get bags filled, one holding and one filling... I can see how this would be helpful for a single person to do this job better.

I will add my little gem concerning hamburger. We buy a fair amount of hamburger in bulk; i.e. 4 to 5 pound package at a time. I divide it up into approximately one pound portions, and put them into a quart freezer bag. I them press them into a "patty" that pretty much fills the bag, force the excess air out and then freeze. They stack great in the freezer and the speed with which you can thaw them will amaze you. Ain't much, but works for me.

We do the same thing. A nice, 1/2" thick rectangle of ground beef with little to no air in the bag. Works great!

Just tear the bag open and you have 1 pound for tacos, spaghetti, BBQ, etc...
