ZTRs and what to look out for

/ ZTRs and what to look out for #31
I bought a Dixon Ram 44 last Fall after looking at alot of different ZTR's .
Although I don't have many hrs. yet, it's done great.
Good quality, nice features, at a good price; was what I was looking for. There are probably better mowers but for a bunch more of the "green stuff".
I've not used the little blue Dixons but the "higher end" Dixons are quite a departure from those.
Check 'em out .

Graybeard, you make a valid point. The one I owned was the cheap little homeowner model. I already said that it was bad, so I won't go on about that. However, I'm sure that most every manufacturer has likely put out a model that they wish they hadn't. I'd like to think that I was just unfortunate to have bought "that" model from Dixon. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I shouldn't have lumped all Dixon models into the "junk" category. My bad. It just still just burns me that they couldn't fix the one I had and simply turned their back on me. At the time, I couldn't afford an attorney, which likely would have solved my problem. Heck, I obviously couldn't even afford anything but their entry level homeowner model. In general, you get what you pay for. Still, I spent all I could. I guess I'm just still raw at Dixon for my treatment then, which likely also would not apply today. I seriously doubt that the same people are in charge now who were in charge 20 years ago. I'm wrong for carrying a grudge so long. I apologize for coming across as slamming your mower. Sorry. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Have you had a chance to check out the "Dixon" Grizzly and New Silvertip? These are really super nice commercial units, packed with a lot of "bang for the buck".
We have a holdover 2004 Ram 44 priced at $3950 and the New 2005 Ram Mag 44 priced at $4800. Are we in line your local dealer pricing?--Ken Sweet

Yes he is. He now carries a brand called "Dane" or something like that. They are yellow in color. For obvious reasons, I won't shade the door of his shop to take any closer look. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Fortunatly for us, we have a tractor/implement dealer that has about the same reputation as the business you speak of. We average about 1 new customers per week because of the poor way they do business. They are really rude to the customers and seem to take pride in being that way /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I cannot figure how they stay in business, or sleep well at night--Ken Sweet

Ken,
I'll have to check but your close.
I think my 44 was a little less than you mentioned.

What engine and deck configuration did you get on your Dixon Ram?--Ken Sweet

/ ZTRs and what to look out for #39
Don't know what my configuration is . ( is there more than one ?)
It's a 2004 Ram 44 with an 18 hp Briggs.

The Ram comes with 3 different engine configurations with the Briggs being the least expensive and the Kawasaki and Kohler engines being as much as $500 to $800 higher--Ken Sweet
