I was under the tractor last week replacing a U joint split pin on the 4WD propeller shaft; and noticed all the bolts were missing from the under carriage / FEL connection to underside of the engine :shocked:; the FEL seems to work fine without; not seeming to miss about 4-6 bolt holes to be filled; on a 180D - 675 FEL.

So the question is how many bolts should be there; and what size? and Im also missing one bolt for the hydraulic control holder leg bottom right; size?.

Cheers BC Dave

If you look into the holes missing bolts and see threads that is how many you are missiing. 12mm measures .472". May have to do some measuring.

My Yanmar 4220 vibrated out the frame bolts on a regular basis. If I let them go without tightening after ever 10 hours of use, I had to put in new bolts as the others would vibrate completely out. Lock washers didn't help. I never tried Loctite on them but if I still had the tractor that is what I would do. They should all be grade 8.8 (metric) and might be various sizes for each location. I think mine were all coarse thread but yours may be different as metric bolts come in at least 3 thread pitches.

I have a similar rig - I think the same loader on a 186D. But I'm out of the country at the moment. (visiting Quito, Ecuador).

I'll be home in about a week and can see what bolts are there if you don't have a good answer before then.

Loctite (blue) is your friend. I had occasional loose loader bolts on the YM240 until I doped them. No more problem. First clean the holes with a squirt of brake fluid and a round bristle brush; bolts likewise.

Gary; ah-ha a common problem; great tanks for the info and reply; and yes, they'd be metric and an 8.8 min I would think.

Cali; enjoy the sun and humidity in Ecuador! ...LOL... Id be interested to hear what its like traveling around; is that for business, pleasure, or the marines? Yes, thanks, please give me the specks on the bolts; I do have a FEL -675 manual but its in the trailer at the property right now and Im not sure it would list bolt sizes anyhow. I will blue lock tight them when replacing them.

Obviously you have used the loader very lightly or it or the tractor would be broken. Youve been lucky. Fill every hole with a hi grade bolt and tighten every bolt on the loader to the specified bolt torque capacity.

They are 8.8 metric. I had to use thread locker on all my loader bolts . They will work loose over time no matter how much you tighten

No. My 7520 uses 10.9 grade. They were loose on delivery. I tightened them TIGHT. I checked them twice; a couple hundred hrs later, and then at 1000hrs. None moved. Now at about 1300 hrs. Mostly hard loader work - digging, pushing down trees, making burn piles, etc. ... If the mounting design is good and the bolts are hi grade, using hi strength washers, and very tight there will be no joint movement and no loosening.

No heat, no humidity. A little piece of heaven, really - traditional Spanish culture overlaid on local Andean culture that remains healthy all along the Andes today. Ecuador has none of the hassles that we think of in Colombia, Venezuela (its sister states), or Mexico. Its a great place to visit. This our second visit here; actually third for me - I visited here first in 1967 on my annual leave from work in another SA country. I admire these people. They have gotten right the respectful, decent and happy living that we could use more of.

I'll copy part of a post I put in a 'Friendly' Politics thread the other day:

======
Quito is right on the equator ('Ecuador') and at 9400 ft in a valley along the spine of the Andes. Maybe 50 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean. So it's beautiful spring weather here every day of the year. For one example, much of US florists' flowers come from here year round.

[...]the friendly people in Ecuador. In both the restaurant where we had lunch and the one where we just had dinner, every guest who entered spoke some sort of greeting to us and to every table they passed while entering. Then 'buen provecho' (have a nice meal) or similar to the other guests as they departed. A nice custom. We here could learn something from this civility.
======

And a post I put up this afternoon in the Mahindra group. It links to pictures you (and everybody here) might like.

Well , You have a Mahindra and these are Yanmars.... While I can't speak for every one here, Gary appears to have had 8.8 & All of mine are 8.8 and they came loose several times until, I used thread locker
