    47" Snowblower Driveshaft Replacement

I recently purchased a new drive shaft for my 47 in blower. Old one was damaged. Removed the old one easily by removing the retaining pin and sliding the drive shaft off the shaft which exists from the bower. I placed the new drive shaft onto the shaft coming out of the blower aligning the...

    Help with X585 Error Code

After plowing snow and shutting off/restarting the engine, my 2005 X585 shows an error code. The code seems to be "air/fuel calculation error". Has anyone else seen this issue? Is there a known fix? I have changed the fuel filter and cleaned the air filter. The tractor never loses power. And...

JD technical manual vs. Parts manual: A question

I own an X585 and wish to get the Technical manual from JD. I am assuming this is the "service/shop" manual. They also list a parts catalog. What does it contain that the tech manual does not? Why would I need/want the parts catalog in addition to the tech manual? My goal is to do simple...

    X585 Oil Change Problems

I am at 41 hrs on my X585, so I got the 7 qts of Hydraulic Oil and a filter from the dealer. Old oil drained out just fine. I then replaced the bolt and filter. I tightened the filter per the manual, though I thought it "felt" like it was too tight. Filled up the oil. Checked the level and all...

    PTO HP on an X585?

Does anyone know what the rated HP is on an X585 540 rpm rear PTO? I am guessing about 17 hp based on the engine is 25 hp. Also, would this tractor handle a VERY small rotary cutter? KK and Fred Cain make 40" units that weigh about 380 lbs. I have a small area that needs rough cutting every...

Deere Technical manual and part manual

I am going to purchase the tech manual for my X585. My goal is to learn more about the assembly and maintenance of my machine. I will not be doing engine overhauls so have little interest in valve tolerance and piston clearance, etc. Why would I want to buy the parts manual in addition to...

    Grading  Question about 54" Blade

Question about 54\" Blade Can someone tell me how effective the 54" blade on an X585 will be at "digging" into the ground? I know it is not a loader, but can I start digging a hole using the blade. Or better yet, the blade with a superior scoop attached. Does anyone know how the Superior...

How can I tell if the tranny hydro relief valve is installed on my tractor? When I bought the tractor (which included the 47" snowblower) the dealer claimed it came with this part. Thanks John

47" Snowblower Rusting after only one season

47\" Snowblower Rusting after only one season I have a brand new 47" snowblower for my X585. It was used twice this season. I am fairly good at cleaning it off/out before being parked in the garage after use. However, I noticed this morning that it has a larger layer of very bad rust on the...

I have an X585 with 50 lb wheel weights. I will be using it this winter to blow snow with the 47" blower. It weighs about 300 lbs. How much weight in the rear weight box is correct to offset that weight up front? I do not want to over stress the rear axle. Thanks jje

    X585 Issue/Question

I just took delivery of an X585 with 54" deck, 3pt, York Rake, and 47" blower. The first day I used the York rake to clean my side yard. The tractor had plenty of power. The next day I mowed the yard and the tractor appeared to have less power. When I engaged the PTO the tractor wanted to...
