I have a '51 8n that when its cold will start and run for 20-30 seconds or so then shuts down abruptly. While its running is fairly rough and squeals real loud like a fan belt. I've removed the fan belt and it still makes the same noise.
It does this while the clutch is in so I dont think its...
I need to replace my ring gear on on my 8n.
I know to put the new gear on I'll put the ring gear in the oven and the flywheel in the freeze, but how do I get the darn thing off? Brute force or are there any easier tricks?

Does anyone know what the dimensions are for a 2015 and a 2615 with a loader & R4's? The published dimensions are for R1's and obviously no loader.

I am replacing my coil on my '51 8n.
The coil that is currently on it has two wires labeled DIST and BAT.
My new coil is labeled simply "+" & "-"
This is a 12v negative ground tractor, so I assume that the DIST = "-" and BAT= "+"
Does this ssound correct? What would happen if I wired it...
My neighbor was going to put a burn pile (for brush, sticks and such) on top of his leach field. I wasnt so sure that was a great idea.

I need to change my Hyd/Tranny fluid in my 8n. On the nseries website its was mentioned that 80w-90 EP was the preferred fluid.
What does the EP stand for? Can I use 80w-90 without the EP noted?
Can I hitch things to the hitch (i guess that what that is) underneath the PTO shaft? IF so what do I use a clevis? OR is there something else.
Or would I be better using a drawbar?
