Many of us work a 5 day work week, I read today where the USPS mail delivery is cutting back to 5 days, excluding Saturday deliveries, Not sure how most feel about the cutback but as for myself 5 days is enough junk mail for me, and if cutting back 1 day helps to save... why Not?
we've all had to cut back in one way or another, I have a relative ( Uncle )who retired from the USPS and he is but a worn out old man health wise, But only into his 70's... He was very committed to his job as a mail deliverer, He prospered from his job in the way of a good life style but in doing so he neglected his personal well being and health, The bottom line is can the usps employs not make it on 5 days of work? Heck some agencies have changed to 10 hour days/4 days week, which IMHO could save $$ all the way around, lessoning gas expense by 1 day in commute to work, which will also save fuel from being used by pulling 2 extra hours a day is no big deal ....
I used to work 10-12 hours 5 to 6 days a week, being self employed I had no incentive other than keeping caught up on work loads, I didn't receive time 1/2 for overtime or any company bonuses, I'm just saying why are the usps workers, ( I respectively ask) so upset about being cut 1 day?
Do they live as My Uncle did? a lifestyle beyond their needs, and will they need to only make adjustments or will they feel like sacrifices to them?
Again I do respect the work they do for us all, But times are tough and we all need to adjust our life styles, at least for the Moment...
All my working life I helped build new homes, I for one have certainly had to make adjustments, But I don't think of it as making sacrifices,
