OK ... I only had 1 acre remaining to mow today. This would be enough, given the experience of the last few days, to get the engine over temp. I am happy to report ... I finished the entire acre without getting above the marked "normal" operation level :) I've attached a pic so you can see...

    kioti running hot

I bought 20 "rough" acres to prevent a pot grower from setting up shop next to my property. It was bulldozed to clear trees and left as a complete mess. It is a mix of grass and every weed known to man. It is quite thick and average height at this time is about 18 inches. Everything is in bloom.

Temp scale is bracketed low/high and has 2 dots for normal operating range. My temp runs almost to the upper limit of the bracketed display ... just below HOT. The mower has only been used 2 seasons ... couldn't have hit more than a few hundred rocks! Not easy to get under one of these beast...

Good suggestion. Thanks. The screen(s) are clear. Kioti designed those so you can only remove one and shake it clean - unless you unhook an air hose. I modified mine with a Dremel so I can slide both of them out in the field.

Hay Farmers getting out of farming

I have no need for hay - so I have others come cut/bale/haul out. The property, for me, is not about making money ... I am retired. All I want is for the grass to be cut. My goal is solely to bring in enough money to provide enough herbicide/fertilizer to make the grass desirable. This is...

"...As gas prices increase EVs appear way more practical...FOR NOW..." Gas prices would not really increase if they weren't purposely driven higher by climate warriors.
  64. KiotiKowboy

Battery based electric vehicles of today and tomorrow.

It's really quite simple. If EV is a great idea - it will prosper on its own. There should be no need for subsidies or tax breaks. Targeting existing industries for destruction, especially at great cost to citizens, to force a move to EV is a "C L U E" this is ideology and not a good idea.

    Building our retirement home

Alright, it's been a few days since I last updated. Made an overnight run to north of Chicago to pick up some furniture - about 1350 miles round-trip. The house is nowhere close - but we're going to have furniture! LOL The basement walls have been poured, so it's good to see something...

    Building our retirement home

Soooooooooooo .... after all the drama of the day. Here is the site status. The basement walls are set to 10'. After the 4" slab and the addition of ceiling, I'll be left with close to 9' of clearance. The entire basement will be "finished" with 2x4 studwalls and drywall. This will make...

    Building our retirement home

Sometimes, you just have to be there ... The basement dig was completed and the crew was about to set their forms. Concrete had already been ordered for the next day. At least that was the plan, until I asked .... "Are you sure this is wide enough?" LOL Turns out, the dozer stopped too...

    Building our retirement home

The basement dig continues. It took a little longer than expected because of all the rock - clearly visible in the photos. It broke out alright with the dozer but made things a slow go. The good news - after a 6" rain, the basement pit held zero water. When completed, this will be...

    Building our retirement home

Thanks cat ... We studied a number of placements on the property for our home. We even went out one night about 10:30 pm to see what lights might be visible in the surrounding area. There is a cellular tower about a mile away and it has a red flashing light that is just visible above our tree...

    Building our retirement home

While the driveway project was winding down, we managed to get a start on the home site. The first step was to scrape the site and decide exactly where to pin the house. Once the position was set, the basement dig could begin.

    Building our retirement home

Took a run out to the farm this afternoon to see how things were going with my drive. This particular project has been going on for over a month - delayed by relentless rains. Today - it is finished! Overall, I am pleased. It readily packs into a very hard surface and withstands heavy rain...

    Building our retirement home

The barn was the FIRST thing we did on the farm. I'd bought my Kioti and was driving 5 miles regularly to the property. With more toys on the way, I couldn't put this off. The structure is a 30x50 pole barn, cement slap, 3 10' bay doors & 36" entry door, 12' interior ceiling. One of the bay...

    Building our retirement home

We've been "planning" this home for a few years and it has seemingly taken forever to get things moving. FINALLY, we are seeing progress. I'm sure we'll get this all framed and closed in by fall but likely spring before move in is possible. The home will be just over 3500 sq ft, which...

Buying acreage, what do I need to know?

I wish that were true. Lately, I've been praying more :) I told my wife that I hope we can spend a night in the place before it's foreclosed. This is what it looks like today :)

    Property Gate Control/Video

I'm running power to my new home site via a 2400' trench. The trench will run from my entry gate to the house. Now is the time to pull additional wire. I would like to mount some type of gate open/close control and possibly voice & video that could be utilized from inside my home. What would...

    Outrider Herbicide

Looking for the best price on Outrider herbicide. So far, the best I can locate is $395.95 per 20 oz with free shipping. If I'm going to spray most of my hay pasture, I'll need about 5 of these. Sooooooooooo ... cheaper is better :)

Looking for 38 special shotshell ammo

I haven't bought any of this load in several years. Now that I'm running low - it's almost impossible to find. The only sources with it, have it because their prices are astronomical - or, their shipping rate almost doubles the price. I'm looking for CCI 3738. This is 357/38 shotshell, 100 g...

    F-250 vs 2500 HD gas

I bought a new 2015 Silverado 2500 HD 4x4 6.0 gasser Double Cab in September. Put on Krank wheels for a snappy look and drove away for just under $60K. This is my first Chevy truck, having always stayed with Ford for my trucks. Although I "may" find a use for the 2500 muscle, it was bought...

    Looking for Tool Carrier Ideas

I have a 6x10 dump trailer that I use frequently when trimming the tree-line of my pastures. This trailer does have the side slots for installing side-boards. I also have a UTV, sometimes pulling a small 3x5 trailer, that I use for smaller pasture brush and weed projects. I'm looking for tool...

I need to change out the oil in my DK50 front axle. I skipped this at the 50 hr but want to hit it now that I made 100. As far as I can tell, this process is nowhere in the service manual. So I want to be sure I find all the drain plugs, level checking plug(s) and fill plug(s). I would...

    Lost a beloved pet today

OK .. This is Hope working her way through recovery. I don't have one any later in her progress. I am told that she now has a very thick and bushy coat. She suffered from dermodectic mange. She was found at a dump site - starving. I guess some really fine folks didn't want to spend the time...

    Lost a beloved pet today

Thank you. I hope so. My wife and I try our best to show all our animals love. It's important to both of us that our pets feel that love, and know they are valued and safe. We believe God shares His beautiful Creation with us through these wonderful animals. Here are our 3 Goldens. Maggie...

    Lost a beloved pet today

It's been a hard day. I had to let one of my beloved pets, Maggie, a Golden Retriever, go today. She was only 8 years old, full of love and full of life. Sadly, she developed a tumor in her sinus that was making it almost impossible to breath. I would have done anything to save her but...

    Morton Buildings Worth It??

I looked at Morton buildings, and a number of their competitors, off and on for several years. Yes, they build a quality structure - relative to much of their competition. For me, however, Morton has become a "label" - for which you pay as you would for designer jeans. I ultimately hired a...
