Moving 2,000-pound feed tote on a pallet with Massey 1759

Many thanks @Carl_NH and @ericm979. I really appreciate the advice and insights. I don't mind hand carrying ten loads of 50-pounds each... to reduce the feed in the tote to near 1500 pounds... then I can take it down from there with pallet forks (I see a pair of Titans rated to 4000 pounds... so...

Moving 2,000-pound feed tote on a pallet with Massey 1759

Hello All, I have a Massey Fergusson 1759 with a bucket loader. We have started buying chicken feed in bulk, and I would like to move up to 2,000 pounds of feed in a tote on a pallet from the back of my F350 (1965 with staked tailgate easily removed). The back of the truck is 42 inches off the...

    MF 1759 Hydraulic Level

Hello thclimer I forget to mention (and thank you) - driving the tractor on the slope was a great way to find my hydraulic oil level in the window. I was just a tad over… so I pulled the plug in and out as quick as I could and caught the oil in the catch-pan. Now the level is in the middle of...

    MF 1759 Hydraulic Level

Thanks Dmacleo... now that I can see the red (from your suggestion) - I can drive it on a slope like thclimer mentioned and I should get a sense for how full it is.

    MF 1759 Hydraulic Level

I added a little dye (the same dye you referenced). It looks like the hydraulic fluid level is above the site glass. Should I drain some hydraulic fluid. The tractor has been running and operating fine and it can’t have that much more than for the level to be visible in the glass.

    MF 1759 Hydraulic Level

Hello All I had the hydraulic level halfway across the circular view window. After learning how to hook up implements with the hydraulics I saw that the level went down. Now I can’t tell if I added too much hydraulic fluid or I still need to add more. Here is a photo of my window. Any insights...

New Holland Hayliner 271 pickup wheel question and breaking twine

Hello ZZVYb6 Lots of great info here that I did not know. I will watch the video a few times and that will help me better understand your comments. I need to understand some basic terminology first. I’m the meantime - the twine frays on the right side as I stand behind the baler. Here is a...

New Holland Hayliner 271 pickup wheel question and breaking twine

Hello Halftrack - many thanks. I’ll look for that L-shaped pin first thing in the morning. The twine is synthetic and new from last season. I’m moving slow and getting over 13 strokes. I have kept the PTO speed low… maybe that’s an issue. I have a 60 HP tractor so I could increase the PTO a lot...

New Holland Hayliner 271 pickup wheel question and breaking twine

Hello All - I am attempting to bale straw for the first time (or I should say bale anything for the first time). I have a New Holland baler (per the photo). When operating, should the pickup wheel be on the ground? I am concerned that the fellow I bought it from put it in a transport mode for me...

    Hydraulic Problem on MF 1759

Many thanks! It worked. The 2x4 wood trick worked well. I used the rag.. yet the pressure was clearly off this time when I depressed the male end. The quick connect worked smoothly with one try. I really appreciate the quick advice from you and Old. Up & Running again!

    Hydraulic Problem on MF 1759

Hello All - For the first time after owning the tractor for 7 years... I bought an implement that required hydraulic hookup. I planned to use the hydraulic connections for the two hydraulic lines from the implement at the front for the curl of the front loader. I took off the top quick connect...

    MF 1759 Oil plug(s) location

Hello All - A friend of mine that is no longer with us was changing the oil on my Massey Ferguson 1759 over the years. Now, I have the oil and filter to do it myself, but the manual does not show the location of the oil plug. The oil pan appears to be separated into two sides with two plugs...

Rotary Cutter  Removing Blade Bolt on Taylor Pittsburgh Rotary Cutter

Hello All I see a lot of discussion on this topic, but I don’t see a post that addresses this issue. I have a castle nut with a cotter pin holding my blades on my Rotary Cutter. I am want to remove the blades for sharpening. I got the pin out of the castle nut. I have a large socket for the...

    Rake  Rock Rake for Rocks?

Hello All. We have a MF1759 and 22 acres of loamy soil. The soil produces softball sized rocks... of course some smaller and some larger... but very few the size of a bowling ball and relatively few smaller than a baseball. Short of a rock picker (I just don't want to spend the money) - what...

    Comparison  MF2706E vs MF1759

I am trying to decide between a Massey Ferguson 2706E and the Massey Ferguson 1759. 2706E is more of a basic tractor at a significantly lower price. The 2706E doesn't have a DPF compared to the 1759. One major difference is the main clutch... wet multi-disc for the 1759 and single dry for the...
