Driving around the field in our new to us G5200 the other day when all of a sudden it starts making a terrible screeching noise and won't move forward or back. Parked it and threw a tarp over it as there was a snow storm coming. Had to get it back to the garage to work on it and didn't want to push it as it's an HST. Not sure if that's being over cautious - the HST is new to me and I think I remember reading that you shouldn't push one.
After the storm passed, I hitched up the boom pole to the L3240 to pick the G5200 up by the shackle on the rear, but the boom wouldn't reach low enough and I wanted a direct attachment, so I replaced the top link with a pair of grab links and a length of chain. Knocked 2 wooden wedges between the front axle and frame, one on both sides, to immobilize the front axle pivot and off we went. This worked great - I was able to get the little guy back into the garage without turning the rear wheels:
